Looking for Weather apps that use the built in GPS?

I was out of town the other day and wanted to know if it was going to rain.

As most of you know, the Weather Bug app (and others I'm sure) require you enter the city or zipcode to get an updated weather report.

I called Verizon today to see if there are any apps that take advantage of the GPS, but the representative could not find any free ones.

So we have a "smartphone" with GPS and no one has created an app that uses GPS data directly?  I find that hard to believe.

Can anyone recommend any apps that do this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

(and I wonder why they call it a "smartphone")

I'm not following you.  Weatherbug does allow you to use the built-in GPS to display local weather.  There's an option in the perferences for Weatherbug to "Enable My Location"

I don't see this preference "enable my location".

I pulled up Weather Bug, Settings and the only thing you can change is "unit" and "auto refresh".

Can you explain where these settings are?

I figured out one solution.

The Weather Channel app has a menu option called "My location", which seems to work great.

The free Weather Bug does not have an option to take advantage of the GPS.

Hope this helps others.

Not sure what weatherbug you're using but the free version of Weatherbug definitely has the option.  When I hit the menu button, there should be something that says Preferences and there's all sorts of settings in there.
