Bootloader 27.01 Message - Battery Low cannot program

I received ny DROID X last week and it was working fine up until this morning.  Noticed this morning the phone was dead so I plugged it up to the USB port on my laptop. The green lite came on, but phone wouldn't boot up ----- even after holding the power button down for 1 min and taking the battery out for a few mins and putting it back in.

So I left the phone alone for a while, just figured the battery was low and it needed to charge.

After a few minutes, I noticed the phone was cycling through trying to power up. I kepp noticing the following message on the screen: Boot Loader 27.01 Battery Low cannot program.

This happened in 5-10 minute cycles for about 4 hours.

I then took the battery out again for 10 mins, put it back in the phone and attempted to charge again. Same issue with the boot loader message.

I called Verizon Tech support. They were unable to diagnose the issue and plan to send me a new DROID X.

No eta on when I will receive the new phone, I'm told I'll be put at the top of the list.

I had my old LG ENV touch, so they reactiviated that phone. I miss my DROID X already!

Does anyone know what this Bootloader issue is?

Did you power your device off first before removing the battery?

My wife's phone just did the same thing a few hours ago.  Her battery ran out, so it powered down.  Then when she plugged it into her laptop, the green light flashed, and a blank screen with:

Bootloader 29.01

Battery Low

Cannot Program

came on for a few secs, then disappeared.  She showed me and we thought maybe the battery just needed to be charged.  The phone's been plugged in for almost 3 hours now, so I checked it.  Nothing.  I turned it off, unplugged it and did a battery pull, then plugged it back in and got the same effect.  Not cool.

What's the deal?

Just got it to work again.

I tried plugging it into the wall charger instead of the laptop, and it immediately gave me the Motorola symbol, then displayed the battery in the middle of the screen at 0%.  I left it in for a few min and checked it again and it was up to 10%.  I unplugged it and turned it on, and voila, back to normal.

So, it appears that if you completely drain your battery, you have to plug it into the wall vs. a computer in order for it to charge. Worked for me, anyway.

Whew!

Same thing happened to me. I appears that if the battery drains all the way down and you plug it into your computer via USB this message appears (Bootloader 29.01-Battery Low cannot program). Plug it into the wall charger and it will show 0% charge. Allow it to charge fully and everything is fine.

yeah this is some time of software confliction in the phone where it wants to connect to pc rather than open the usb to charge the battery but its always a good idea when the phone is dead or under 10 percent use a wall or car charger

Is their a problem who will fix it? My droid went completly dead and will not boot up! I have had it plugged in for four hrs but no luck, just keeps cycling through the (M) banner and the bootloader black page. it's like it wont even charge. It wont even do a hard restart. So not happy. never had these problems wh my BB just wish the X would come back to life. Does anyone have any solutions??? 11/09/2010

This has been noticed and reported, the device does not recover from a complete battery discharge using a usb from a pc because it does not supply enough power to power device and charge device when the battery is that low because the battery requires additional power than usual charging cycle because the battery is in a rapid charge state instead of trickle charge state. Plugging into a wall power supply should resolve everytime.
