With international messaging, you can use your handset to send and receive text or picture & video messages with family and friends overseas. International messages can only be sent to wireless subscribers of one of the international carriers listed.

          <script type="text/javascript"></script>
          Receiving International Messages
Callers from outside the U.S. can send you text or picture & video messages by dialing the Plus Sign + 1 + Verizon Wireless Mobile Number.

          Example:
Plus Sign + 1 + Verizon Wireless Mobile Number

          Sending International Messages
You can text or picture & video message people who live outside the U.S. by selecting the country they are in and then addressing the message using the format displayed.

          Sample Format:
Intl Dial Code + Country Code + International Mobile Number

I was near Cancun area (Riviera Maya) a few years ago and my cell worked fine. Not even roaming charges for calls to the states.

What a shame, looks like BrotherGrim is back and more confusing than ever.

Per the International Text Messaging page on VZW.com, texting to/from Mexico numbers is charged at domestic rates.

So if you have a text package with a certain allowance, it will deduct from that allowance. Or if you have unlimited messaging then it is completely free and included in your existing plan. If you have NO text package then you pay .20 per message sent/received.

It's only while texting FROM Mexico that you'll be charged. So if you were roaming in Mexico you'd be charged .50 to send and .05 to receive a text message.

              Hope that helps!
