recently obtained a newer "aircard". tradename merlin, model cc760. novatel/qualcomm. packaged as vzw pc770 2-in-1. Mobile Broadband EVDO RSSI at primary location runs -95 dBm to -117 dBm. toggles to NationalAccess 1xRTT often. w/w vzw @ 800.922.0204. they sent pc770 replacement expresscard. received signal strength indicator is same utilized in two different notebooks (hp elitebook 6930p w/o pcmcia adapter / hp nc6400 w/adaptor). previously utilized pc5750 type II pcmcia within nc6400 with no issues. EVDO RSS ran in -80 dBm range. have 2 towers nearby. took hp 6930p on road (alternate location) and EV @ -66 dBm / 1x @ -67 dBm. attempted to improve signal at primary location utilizing 2 different external antennas, no change. w/w vzw again. requested network coverage be verified. vzw tech support advised had an "IP leak". never heard of "IP leak". any suggestions?
Anything over -105 dBm is going to be hard to get a grip on. Read the follwoing article might help.
