Look at this thread for talking about the phone-->Nexus phone   Reports say that the phone will be on Verizon in Spring

Spring would imply sometime by June-ish :smileyhappy:

You might want to keep an eye on some of the tech blogs like Engadget, Phandroid etc.  One of the first signs that it's coming over the horizon  will be when the phone passes FCC certification.

I think "rumors" and "concrete release date" are phrases that don't belong in the same sentence. Verizon has been more forthcoming with planned release dates in the last year or so. I suspect that when a release is closer, you'll be able to sign up on their website for announcements.

Best of luck.

I don't see any announcements about the Nexus on Verizon's site directly. There are other phone companies that are announcing the Nexus though. I know on the T-mobile forums there is a special forum for just the nexus phone now.

Well, of course you didn't! No company is going to tell you not to buy, to wait to see if there's something you might like better later. You might decide to take your business elsewhere.

Google "The Osborne Effect" to see how well that works for companies.

It's also very safe to assume with technology that, no matter what you buy, when you buy it or how long you wait, there will always be something better, faster and cheaper announced shortly thereafter.

Based on past history, when (if) VZW announces they will be selling the Nexus One, they'll probably put something up on their website.

Best of luck.

It's become a bit of a cliche on these message boards that everyone waiting is waiting for "the next best thing".  I'd almost think it was spun off by the Verizon marketing department.  Just get a phone NOW, people say.  It's like someone WANTS you to go buy the Droid.  Hmmmm, Motorola, is that you? LOL

Look, I don't care about the next best thing.  I do care about meeting my needs.  From day one, I've wanted something with a larger display than the Eris and NO physical keyboard.  Just don't want it.  I'm also put off by the non-standard resolution of the Droid and the fact that the display width is narrower than traditional aspect ratio displays on cell phones.  I mean, it's better technology that they're packing more lines of resolution (480) in a shorter display height (we're talking landscape here) than, say, the iphone (320).  But really, that doesn't give you more room to type on a virtual keyboard.  And the design cues aren't for me.  I love the Eris form and feel.  The hardware specs just suck.  I'd probably pick up the Nexus One now if it was available.  The support issues are quite troubling.  Hopefully by the time Verizon is ready, they will have ironed some things out.  I guess there's the even more vaguely rumored HTC Incredible somewhere out there on the horizon.  Maybe something carrier supported similar to the Nexus One is around the corner.  Who knows.  The holiday return period ends Wed.

trust me im not a next best thing i think they should announce new phones before they just appear instore and we shouldnt as paying customers have to get all our info through the rumor mill. there should be some sort of partial trade or subsidation plan for customers in good standing who got a phone that didnt meet expectations im not saying give me a full rebate like the every 2 deal but let me trade towards it i know they can refurb my phone and resell for a few hundred bucks you dont have to pay full price on a new car even if your trading in a beater its just good business to inform and work with customers rather go all dictator and and never accomodate anyone.

also ive seen storys about the nexus being a late verizon release because they initally said no to the phone in favor of the droid but customer buzz made them reconsider.

So, wait to buy the phone that meets your needs. Don't buy one that doesn't. I held on to my Treo 650 for about 4 years because I didn't especially like anything. Once I decided on the phone I wanted, I wasn't at all concerned about what came out the next month because I had a phone that worked for me.

The moment the Nexus One was announced, people started asking me if I was sorry I'd gone ahead and gotten the Droid. I can honestly answer that I'm not sorry because I got the phone that made sense for me. And it probably still will even after the Nexus One comes to VZW.

Hopefully, by the time it does, the problem of it dropping off of 3G will have been resolved. Certainly not a problem I'm having with my Droid! :smileyhappy:
