WAV files and Ringtone problem

Trying to help my daughter with custom ringtones. I create WAV files and send them to her as a picture/video message from the Verizon website. Problem is the WAV file is way too loud even though I've keep reducing the WAV file's volume with a WAV editor. How can I correct this? I'm using the 22500 sampling rate so that is probably not the problem. When I listen to the WAV file through WinAmp, the volume IS greatly reduced. Somehow the verizon send a pic message website is upping the gain.

Is there a better way to send her a ringtone to her Samsung Glyde? She has unlimited txt messages but no e-mail on her phone. Is there a better audio format that is supported by the Verizon send a pic message website?

I appreciate anyone's suggestions on this.

Have you tried using Audacity to edit the volume?  You can also use a third party service like phonezoo to edit the file and send it to her phone, and it will be formatted to work on her phone.

Interesting, most of the volume issues mentioned here are that the ringtones are too QUIET, not too loud!!

Use audacity to take the sound down and then export them as MP3.  Mp3 sounds so much better than WAV.  Mary!

The Picture Message web site says only WAV and some other formats (NOT MP3) can be uploaded. Am I missing some trick???? Remember she doesn't have e-mail.

Thanks so much for your help.

Try phonezoo.com - you can upload an mp3, edit the portion you want to use as a ringtone, and it will format it for your specific phone and send it to you as a text message, which you then save as a ringtone.  Simply works well.  And takes 5 minutes or less.

That is why I don't do it that way, won't allow MP3.    I just attach to my e-mail and send to my phone as text with picture attachment then save and set as ringtone.  Send it to yournumber@vzwpic.com using your 10 digit cell number.    Mary

Does she have to have an plan with e-mail to receive a message to her number at vzwpic.com?

No, it comes in and is counted as a text message.  And it's yournumber@vzwpix.com, just to be clear.
