phone will not tun off or on

Iphone X willnot turn off or on you can see in the middle of the phone a spining wheel or somehting like it is trying to shut off

I would take the phone to a local Apple store and have someone at the Genius Bar look it over.

Oh no, theresa70, we know how alarming this must be for you. Being able to turn off your phone is an essential function that should not be failing on your new iPhone X. Now, let me ask you, which buttons are you pressing down on to turn it off? Have you tried powering it off from the Settings?
