I read a short while back on AppleInsider that the iOS update should be out the middle of this month. Luckily I don't have this problem but it looks like many do unfortunately.

I fixed the GPS dropped coverage issue on my iPhone 7 with Verizon

I needed to just reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

Be careful NOT to "Erase All Content and Settings"

The "Reset All Settings" keeps all your apps, chat history etc.  It erases all your phone settings

I drove over 200 miles over last three days without any dropped coverage.  GPS works great

I have voice & data for LTE, no problem.  iPhone 7 with Verizon with iOS 10.0.2.  Hallelujah - what a pain till now

For what it's worth, I spent bunch of time with Apple tech support earlier this week.  They said there's no GPS dropped coverage issue with the iPhone 7, but many users have dropped coverage because of legacy settings.  It's an issue for users that restore from backup when setting up new phone

Also having the issue. iOS 10 update significantly depreciated reception ability. Dropping words, whole calls. I used to be able to call in a darn near Faraday Cage. Now, out in the open on a clear day is spotty at best.

Thanks for this.  I too spent quite a bit of time with Apple especially as Verizon kept having me do the same things over and over again with no avail.

I think they have two different issues going on here which is confusing them.  I restored my iPhone 6s to my new 7, but in troubleshooting, I factory reset my entire iPhone 7 to default with no old restore.  Updated to latest 10.0.2.  Still had same problems.  Maybe even worse.

This may resolve for some so I'd try it for those who haven't.  Not sure why Apple and Verizon haven't formally released it if it was an official fix.  I don't know why their still acting a bit clueless about the issues publicly but it's a bit annoying.  Maybe feel empowered by the Note 7 failures and lack of competition.

Hope it is for some.  Too many "Call Failed" and hoola hoops for me to rely for business use.   Best of luck all.  I'm returning.

I actually have not had the Verizon signal dropping or issues on both me and my wife's iPhone. What I have had is the crackling and hissing/buzzing sound on the back of my iPhone near the Apple logo. Anyone else have this problem with their iPhone 7+? Try turning on a youtube video and turn the sound off. While the video is playing, listen to the back of your iphone to the right of the apple logo. We even had my wife's swapped out at the Apple store and the new one does the same thing. Is this normal?

In this Verizon forum someone reporting doing a General->Reset->Reset All Settings ( *not* "Erase All Contents and Settings") to fix the issue of LTE dropping out to 3G or 1x on iPhone 7, even in strong signal strength areas.

I tried this and, so far, it's looking like it might have worked.   The issue might be caused by people restoring their backups from earlier phones to their iPhone 7 models.   "Reset All Settings" puts your iPhone 7 into the default settings configuration without affecting your installs apps, etc.     You do need to redo your Touch ID and re-sign into iCloud, resign into Messages and re-configure some settings.

Unfortunately the reset didn't help-- wife's iPhone 7 still lost signal while my S7 held onto LTE the whole ride down from Danbury CT into NYC.

So we switched LTE to Data Only and it was only slightly better. Went into 3G instead of saying "no service".

Argh.

Yeah.  I'd been living off that same solution along with turning OFF HD Voice frim day 2 of this issue.  Keep in mind with "Data Only" checked, I don't think you can talk on the phone and use Data at the same time.

Also swapped SIM's.  Reset Network settings.  Reset phone with no backup/restore.  Held it up in the air on pole.  No joy.

Not it sure if anyone else noticed, but since iOS 10 was released, Spelling and Grammar has been weird, inconsistent and outright WRONG.  Dunno what they have going on.  Same on my old 6s.

This is all so crazy.

I "upgraded" from a 5s and I'm having massive service issues.

I downloaded the 10.1 beta, reset network settings and I'm still dropping calls.

This is unacceptable.
