Has anyone here switched from Android to iPhone?

Hi everybody. I have been using Android phones for the last 6 years but my latest phone (S5) is showing signs of fatigue and right now there are no phones running Android that really appeal to me. I was thinking about making a change over to iPhone and was wondering if anyone in this forum has done it and how do you like it? And if you don't like it, why?

Yes, I have.

I was on Android since the Motorola Bionic, whenever that was. My last three were Droid Turbo, Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P. Those three were bought in two years time. Last March I bought an iPhone 6S Plus and in September I bought the 7 Plus 10 days after it came out. And a month ago I bought a cellular iPad Mini 4. That is nice also. I love iOS. It is a little faster and smoother than Android. And the battery life on my iPhones is a little better.

I do miss the customization that I could do on Android......using a launcher to change the appearance and shrink the icons smaller, etc. But as of now I don't have plans to return to Android for my daily phone. I'm a techy so I wanted to try the other side. Both have good and bad points. And luckily I have two Apple stores not far from my office. Smiley Happy

Good luck with your choice.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. The customization issue you described is exactly what's been holding me back. I've never used any of the stock apps on my phones and the first thing that I do after opening the box is change the launcher Smiley Happy I will keep my fingers crossed for my phone to last until the iPhone 8 comes out and then compare it to the S8 and probably go from there. Thanks again.

You're welcome @noreally. The other thing I didn't mention are the system and security updates. Apple is great about that. I feel that my iPhone is more secure than my Androids ever were. Even with my Nexus phones, the monthly security updates fell off. They started out good but were spotty after that. And when Apple updates iOS, EVERYONE gets it. It is not dependent on your phone model or your carrier like Android is.

I still visit some Android sites and saw last week that the current 7.xxx version is now on 7% of Android phones. Really? That's horrible. Some phones get updates month later and some never will.

Also, when using my Android phones a lot I would have to clear the system cache or at least restart it to speed it up. And I would drop the data connection from time to time. I have not had any of these issues with my two iPhones. They hold the phone call and data connection all the time.

I will probably get the iPhone 8 if it seems worthy, but there are a lot of rumors about it that I will need to check out when it's available. I have been buying one or two devices a year now lately at full price so I really need to slow down I think. Ha.

Those are great points! The S5 won't even get updated to Android 7 as far as I know, whereas the iPhone model which came out around the same time still gets IOS updates. I also heard that the operating system itself takes much less space on an iPhone than it does on an Android.

I too have had to clear the system cache and even had to do a factory reset not too long ago because my phone was getting so slow.

Is there less carrier bloatware on iPhones than on Android phones by any chance?

Both systems have good and bad, that's what is making this decision so hard

I have two iPhones and a cellular iPad. I bought them at the Apple store. They have zero bloat. I believe that is also the case if you buy one from Verizon, but I can't say for sure.
