Dhonest salesman upsold me...

Hi,

First of all I wanted to say that Verizon is a great company, and I have had wonderful experiences in the past, and am a very loyal customer and I would like to keep it that way.

Today I came into the store and worked with Zach at the verizon store in Prescott Valley. I came in because my iphone 7 screen was shattered and I wanted to fix it. When speaking about my options I was told the plan that I have with UBreakIFix would require me spending 200 dollars to get a refurbished phone because he said the iphone 7 has defects, and that my other option was to upgrade. Hearing this news, I decided that it was more worth my while to upgrade instead of paying 200 dollars basically to have the same phone that has defects. Unfortunately, what he said to me was misleading and untrue, and I feel as if I was strongly taken advantage of, which is upsetting because I am a college student that does not roll in money. I found that this was a lie when I returned home and spoke with Colton from UBreakIFix who happily told me that with my plan the Iphone 7 screen could be fixed with a 39 dollar deductable. If that information had been presented to me at the beginning I would not have followed through with the purchase of a new phone. Overall, at the store I spent about 639 on the new phone not including other charges that were required to be able to purchase this phone (paying off my other phone bill 100 bucks)etc, when in reality I could have paid 39 dollars to have my screen fixed with the plan I pay for.

All in all, I am very upset with the fact that I was taken advantage of for a sale and blatantly lied to.

Thank you for your time.

Salesman's job is to make sales. They are not your friend.

So you’re learning some grown up stuff.  1.  If you have insurance, you PAY for it, you should speak the the insurance provider FIRST, not the phone sales guy.  That’s kind of a no brainer.  2.  $200 is less than $739+.  Okay, you’re in college, you can do math.  3.  With just a tinge of anger, return the phone, and you might get a restock fee waived.  Speak to a manager or call Verizon while you’re in the store.

I can’t tell if the location is a non company owned store/authorized retailer.  Authorized retailers are not controlled as much by Verizon policy.

Even if it is, all stores are staffed by salespeople that are subject to quotas to keep their job.

This isn’t the last time a grown up will lie to you.

Stores should take responsibility, not have their mistake pawned off on customer service over the phone. Those agent's have to worry about angry customers costing them lost bonuses via surveys while store reps walk scot free. Any escalation should be done with that manager.

Customer service is not store police.

I hope you are having a great day so far and a wonderful weekend! Thank you so much for reaching out to us today. We are always here to answer all of your questions and concerns. It is always our goal to make sure that you have the best experience possible whenever you walk into one of our stores. I apologize that you feel as though the Verizon representative misled you. I am not sure why you feel that the information that he gave you was "untrue", but Apple did release a massive recall on the iPhone 7 and it has been a very big deal for the last few years now. It has an antenna/connection defect that comes along with Apple's newer software updates. It sounds like the representative confirmed that your device would have been impacted and saved you from being completely without a device.

Here is a link with the information from Apple's website. I figured you would appreciate the information from a source other than Verizon: https://www.apple.com/support/iphone-7-no-service/
