Connectivity has declined dramatically in past month

We have had Verizon ever since we got cell phones years ago. We live in a rural area so we have had connection issues but NEVER as horrible as the past month.  Hours go by when I can’t connect to anything.  I have contacted them 6 times and either nothing was resolved or I was unable to finish the conversation because of the BAD connection.  Has anyone else experienced this and were you able to get your connection back to normal?
