Two seniors paying $160 a month service for two iPhone 6's? - Seriously?

The two phones are getting older, so are we.  The cheap battery now maxes out at less than 70% of what is was designed for.  The bloated apps eat up 50% of the advertised memory.  And we're paying $80 a month EACH for these things with the cost still climbing?  A "new" phone would eat up multiple Social Security checks.  Surely this isn't "normal."  Should we consider going elsewhere?

I though the original post was pretty clear.   What I'm reading in these responses is that no one really cares what they pay and has unlimited amounts of money for a phone.  They also don't seem to care about planned obsolescence and short term failure because they've got tons of money to change phones every other year or more often.   I'm disgusted at even thinking about the sickening absurdity of having to eventually look at $1,000+ cell phones...also realizing these are designed to fall apart and be worth $12 on "trade in" in less than three years.  Then there's the "Service Plans" designed for bandwith gobbling gamers and dimwitted millenials who spend 8 hours a day looking at their phones and "surfing" Pintrest, loading self-serving garbage on SnapChat, etc.  I want a quality product that will lasy YEARS and enough capability for a few apps and access to the internet when i need it.  Those phones and plans DON'T EXIST...

What is the exact name of the plan you have? Are you paying for Device Payment Agreement or insurance on top of the service costs?

I own my phones.  Monthly plans are scams so I pay cash for them.  No insurance, we actually take care of nice things.  One plan is Beyond Unlimited and the other is Unlimited.

we (2 lines) have start unlimited and paying for $70.00/month/line. The unlimited plan is definately not for people only have 2 lines. You might want to go with prepaid plan for cheaper price if you want to stay with Verizon. Honestly, I think Verizon needs to improve it's price strategy to compete with Tmobile. There are a lot of other fees beside plan fees. On the other hand, Tmobile gives you the total price(everything included) in their advertisement.

There is no plan that is called just "Unlimited". It might be Go Unlimited or Above Unlimited or another Beyond Unlimited if you haven't changed your plans in the last year.

Geez, "Go Unlimited"...I still don't think $70 a month is reasonable for one phone line.  Unless there's another option, our fixed income says Verizon has to go!

If you don't need unlimited data, you can review the tiered data plan options available as both postpaid and prepaid plans.

The prepaid unlimited plan is $65 per month per line after a $5 discount when you enroll in Autopay. If you are bulking at the $70 per line for the Start Unlimited, the prepaid unlimited plan might be a good fit for you.

Your other options are to look at the various MVNO carriers that operate in your area and where you visit regularly to see if they are better fit for your needs and budget.
