3D Touch Vibration?

I've noticed on a friends iPhone 6s Plus that it vibrates slightly when you use 3D Touch, but the same isn't true for my mom 6s Plus. Couldn't find anything under settings to enable it. Should it be doing so or is there something we're missing in the settings?

kaebfly,

The 3D Touch is a really cool feature on the iPhone. Vibration is not a special feature within 3D Touch. On the iPhone you only have the option to have Vibration all the way on or off. You may do this under: Settings->General->Accessibilty->Vibration.

Perhaps I'm not describing it correctly. It's not a full fledged vibration when I feel it on my friends phone but it's very slight. Just enough to let you know that you have engaged 3D Touch correctly (aside from the visual blurring of the background) so it's just a little bit of a gentle feedback. At any rate she just wants to know why hers isn't doing it but my friends is. I can't find anything about it on Apple except for this description: "And when you use 3D Touch, your iPhone responds with subtle taps. So not only will you see what a press can do —" (found on this link: http://www.apple.com/iphone-6s/3d-touch/ )

In the quote I apparently cut off "...you'll feel it" at the end of the statement

I understand your concern, kaebfly. Have you checked to see if options are similar on both devices? Has there been any issues with vibration on your mother's phone at any point? It may be best to contact the manufacturer with specific questions like this.

The settings looked the same from the quick look through. She's only had the phone since Monday but the general vibration options do work (in the sounds setting). I will contact Apple for her tomorrow so we can find out if there is an issue or if there's something we are missing in settings.

Hi kaebfly, I have a new iPhone 6s Plus 128GB also and I think I know what you're referring to. It's not really a vibration but a slight pulse. I notice it as well and it seems to be normal? And like you said, to let you know 3D Touch has been engaged.

In the Settings > General > Accessibility > 3D Touch - to 3D Touch Sensitivity, the s6 Plus can be adjusted from Light, Medium, and Firm. But even when adjusted to Light or Firm it didn't have any affect on increasing or decreasing the slight pulse. If I happen to come across anything further in the settings I'll post back. But I seem to think you may be correct in that it's just engaging.

That's exactly what I'm referring to! It's not happening at all on hers. I haven't had a chance to call Apple yet for her but I did try adjusting the sensitivity. Like you said, it doesn't affect the pulse at all (tried it on my friends too since hers actually does the pulsing and the iPhone my mom has does not). It's something I wouldn't have even thought of if I didn't feel it on my friends. It's making me want to make sure everything is working as it should for her before her return period passes.

kaebfly, I just found it, went to. Settings > General > Accessibility and turned off Vibrations and it stopped the pulse type vibration with the 3D Touch. So Christine was correct all along. Smiley Happy

Vibrations are on under that setting in her phone so it doesn't help with the lack of pulse on her phone ☹️
