iPhone 5 without losing unlimited data and without paying Retail?
U_Must_Be_Kidding_Me

Ok Verizon. This is pretty disappointing. I switched over from AT and T because they nickel and dime everything and also because their service sucks. Also, I wanted to keep my unlimited data plan when I swich. I paid a premium to get iPhone 4S and Google Nexus Prime. I am ready to buy the iPhone 5 and I learnt I have to pay full retail price to keep my unlimited data plan! This is cheating. I feel sorry I gave you my business. So, now if I want to upgrade to iPhone 5, what options do I have?

I am on a Family plan with 2 lines. My wife has an iPhone 4S and she has 1 year of her contract left . I am on a month to month situation. Any suggestions as to what I should do to avoid paying 650 and not losing my unlimited data? .Mine is available for upgrade. Both the lines have unlimited data. Any help will be appreciated.

You can get it on ebay or craigslist, but I doubt that the price will be cheaper than $650 for a while.

Here is the Verizon partyline as of 7:10 p.m.

You can buy an iPhone 5 for full retail and maintain your unlimited plan @ $29 95, or

You can buy an iPhone 5 as an upgrade for an as yet undisclosed price and be automatically shifted to a 4G plan @ $30.00 per month.

Did they get rid of the iconic portal bug used for pre-orders?  Quite a few Galaxy SIII's slipped through and retained unlimited even after the June 28th cutoff.

Yes, they have fixed the glitch. Unfortunately there is no way to retain your unlimited data and get a phone at discount price. You should check your account and see if you are even using that much data, cause if you aren't then you could save your self a bit of money.

What I'm advising is that they look at there account and see their usage. If they are not using enough to justify the unlimited than it makes no difference to be on an unlimited or a tiered. Just an FYI only 4% of the population uses enough data to justify having unlimited. 96% only use 2gb. So why hold on to something your not utilizing and is costing you more money?

Depends if they're getting a corporate discount on the data plan also as it won't apply to the $30 tiered 2GB plan.  Also 2GB is an extremely small amount with today's smartphones unless you have constant wifi access.  And what's the point of blazing fast LTE when you can't really utilize it for what they advertise unless you own a bank?

So that I can do my business and then get off the phone in order to do things I enjoy! Just because you have faster speeds does not mean you have to change your phone habits. I have better things to do than to stare at a little 4"+ screen all day long.
