I am a new iphone 5 user. I have received 2 bills, first one said I was probably going over my data plan usage so I upped the data. Second bill, only three days into the bill cycle, said we were OVER the data useage limit!!!!! So I upped the data again. What is going on? Does the iphone NOT use my home wifi when we are at home? Settings show the wifi is on. Please help me, we can not afford this. Am I charged for using my own wifi on the iPhone? Help please.

This is now a common complaint since Verizon went to tiered data.
The so called 95% of their customers never go over 2 GB of data. But lo and behold people are getting kicked in the teeth with $10-$15 overages.
I would never trust Verizon's data counter.
I would have turned off cellular data while at home on WiFi to see if that helps. You should not have data usage from cellular if you are on WiFi. Make sure you are actually on WiFi.
My take is you are getting scammed by Verizon to have you jack up your data allotment costs.
http://www.apple.com check the support forums and see if other Apple users are having the data issue while on WiFi.
Good Luck

We want you to easily manage the use of your data CherylCoco! Wifi is a great way to cut down on cellular data. Did you verify your wifi is properly connected? Do you see a 4G indicator or is the wifi logo present at the top of the main screen? Did you check that cellular data was turned off? Additionally, how about testing it in a different wifi location?
