SoftballAllstar23,

We hear your loud and clear.  Having a working speaker is crucial for the functionality of your iPhone 5c.  When did you start having this issue for your phone? Does your phone have any water or physical damage? Does it working with Bluetooth or head set?

Re: Why won't my speaker work? I have to put my phone on speaker phone to listen to calls

I started having issues after I got it back from sending it to the apple store and after doing resets and updates and all. I tried trouble shooting for some other issues I was having but now the speaker won't work, I would have to have it on speaker phone. It's been like this for a few months. It has no water or physical damage. I don't know if it works with Bluetooth or headset.  Thanks

Hear ye Hear ye SoftballAllstar23, Yareli always makes good nature funny post Smiley Happy I'm starting to believe that iPhone may need the ghost busters after all, it does seem haunted.

Anyway could you perhaps try this Apple test for the microphone which might give a little indication?

Occasionally, a piece of lint will get stuck in the headphone jack making a phone think that headphones are connected to your phone and that may be why you cannot hear anything unless you place the phone in speakerphone mode.

See the following:

I normally use a can of compressed air which usually works quite well at cleaning it out.

SoftballAllstar23, the link provided by Salisbury is sure to help with that testing. Did you have any luck with this? When you did resets, please provide details on the exact steps taken. Have you factory restored the phone as new? Please keep us updated as we want smooth sailing for your phone.

lorenb_vzw maybe I am missing something here, Salisbury provided a link for "microphone" problems which the link addressed. The OP, however, is having problems with their "speaker" which that link DOES NOT address.

IF the OP is not having any problems with their "microphone" how will that link for "microphone" problems help with the "speaker" problems the OP is having????

I shouldn't even bother wasting my time in answering this, it's so petty and irrelevant. SoftballAllstar23 said - I have to put my phone on speaker phone to listen to calls, so apparently the microphone is not working. The speaker on the iPhone is the one that will play music loud without having to use head phones, the microphone on an iPhone is referred to as the speaker you hold to your ear when listening to a call.

So why don't you let the person trying to seek some info do so.
