What should I do if my device was stolen overseas?

So I'm from the states and had to come to Dubai for business. While here My phone was stolen and the SIM card removed. I tried Live chat support but it is always greyed out. I can't figure out how to make a 800 international call yet and it would be in the middle of the night so I haven't talked to customer support. So I guess I am here to try and get in touch with someone from Verizon about what options I may have and any tips or advise from the rest of you.

I do pay for iphone insurance, if that covers stolen phones. I don't know.

rweth greetings from Dubai! I'm sorry to hear that your device was stolen while traveling! We understand the importance of staying in touch and knowing available options. We'll get right to work to make certain that everything is clear! First we encourage you to suspend the service from My Verizon to ensure no one is able to use it. Next as info4u stated, the good news is that insurance does cover theft so you can file a claim through Asurion http://bit.ly/07CrqPK . Lastly if you'll like to speak with someone, our Global Support Team can be reached by calling card http://vz.to/1aRted9

To get in contact with customer support you would want to dial the exit code for the country you are in then 1-908-559-4899 they are open 24/7 so they will be available to you. Your insurance if is is the $5.18, $8 or $10 insurance will cover a stolen phone, so that would work and you can make a claim at www.phoneclaim.com/verizon

O you could see about upgrading early, you may have an early edge upgrade (edge is the finance plan for phones-24 months). To get a chat support you would have to be logged into your my verizon. Hope any of this helps. Smiley Happy
