They screwed me on the 24 hr activation. What to do?

Ok during the preorder at 2am I tried to swap the upgrades to the right number but the option wasn't available during the preorder. So I said what the heck, a number is just a number and they can swap them all day. FAST FORWARD to yesterday I get my phone and call and tell them how I ordered it. Well they cannot activate it on my number because I ordered it under my wifes number. Then they tell me to activate the phone. wait 24 hours and then I can swap. Ok unacceptable really but I can deal with 24 hrs. I run a business off my line and I need my phone number with me at all times though. So I go to my local store where they tell me I have to activate the phone and wait 24hrs also. FAST FORWARD 25 hours. I call to swap the number and the rep is telling me I now have to disable the line my iphone5 is on for 24 hrs and then I can  swap it.   One day they are telling me to activate it for 24 hr and the next day they are telling me to deactivate for 24 hours. I just hung up. What the heck is wrong with these people? Its a telephone number. Nothing more. How hard could it be to swap them from one phone to the next??? Now I have to do without a line for another 24 hours to swap my phone. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else?

Get a new sim at the store if you haven't. You can't use the same sim on the number you really want.

why wouldn't they mention this? I have talked to three different people yesterday about the deal and none of them said anything about a sim card. They all just said activate the phone wait 24 hours and transfer the number then.

Josh...exact same response from multiple CSR's over the phone and then at the VZW store.

Called this morning thinking I would be able to, and of course no luck.  They needed to deactivate the SIM, and put a dummy phone on the line and then I should be able to switch to another line.  I think out of the 50 CSR's I've talked to, the one I talked to this morning, handled and knew everything perfectly.  She even ordered me an extra SIM for Tuesday delivery just in case the 24 hour waiting period doesn't work.

It sucks, haven't been able to use the Iphone 5 on my number I've wanted to, now for 2 days.

VZW really seemed to screw up on this..

Not to mention, all 3 main stores in my area are claiming that NO EXTRA Nano Sims have been shipped out.

I even tried trimming my MICRO sim from another 4G phone that I disabled about a month ago, it was recognized in the Iphone but kept giving me a "NOT VALID SIM for the Iphone when I and the helpful CSR tired activating it.

I didn't mean to be a know it all. When 4g came out I ha that same issue as you belie ring what I hear I waited and waited like you just happening that I went by a store while waiting and cured the same memo as you. That was with the thunderbolt year ago. I didn't want to wait 24 hrs. They should know by now. If you have a card the. Want to switch it to a new line or take it off and put it back on later like weeks the card deactivates.

Yeah same thing happend to me. I activated the phone on the line i upgraded...and was told to leave it active for 24 hours and then i can swap to my line. I didn't really believe that so I called again and the next person (thank goodness) told me to disconnect it.... so i did. when i woke up this morning before work at 6AM I tried to switch the phone to my line.... and it worked. so I am glad i didnt keep it active or I would be in your boat. I didnt need a new sim card... i just had it deactivated for like 15 hours until 6Am. Hope this helps.

well if it makes you feel any better I am in the same exact boat as you. Word for word. Very annoying. The "supervisor" I spoke with today "assured" me that every corporate store has plenty of extra SIMs (which he said was the only option). I called back just for my own piece of mind. This rep at least took the time to call nearby stores and of course, no one had them. She transferred me to tech support. He told me that it will take an additional 24 hours (from time deactivated). Very annoying. AT&T and even Nextel (Sprint) don't have this absurd rule with their SIMs.

Yeah, I got one of the 6 remaning sim cards in all of Tucson, AZ this morning before 11 AM (I know this because the first Verizon store I went to was "sold out" as of yesterday, and they called all the other stores to find out if any of them had any sim cards and how many. This has certainly been an epic failure on Verizon's part.
