When I turn my phone sideways the orientation of the screen does not change
With the home screen visible, swipe up from the bottom. Do you see a virtual button that has a lock with a counterclockwise arrow going around the lock? It should be gray and not blue to allow rotation. If that button is gray and it still doesn't work, a reboot usually fixes the problem.
