Running the Verizon update has completely killed all data connectivity.  What kind of a mess are they trying to fix by bricking my iPhone 5?  Never had the stupid problem and now the fix has killed my phone.  Great work, VZW....

I wasn't having the issue to begin with (or at least I didn't notice it), but I did the carrier update when it showed up on my device. I didn't have any issues at all...contact VZW and go from there. I have never heard of a carrier update bricking a device (not saying it's never happened). I've seen people online say that an iOS update has done it though. At any rate, if the update is what did it then contact VZW. You are still in the 14 day exchange period so you can exchange it for a new one....just not sure if you will have to wait to get it.

The iPhone shows LTE, but then an error comes up saying "Cannot connect to cellular data network" -- the phone is also showing wifi signals available but not ones that I can or would connect to -- a few minutes later, it connects to 3G, with no LTE available.  On a walk to the Verizon store, I got nothing, then 3G then LTE then back to nothing and everything in between.  LTE was slow but it was there.  Got back into the office and I get nothing even though LTE is showing in the status bar.  At this moment, I have no LTE, but some 3G.  I will have to see how things go the rest of the day.  Perhaps Verizon is having simultaneous issues with its LTE signals in this area, but I'm usually bathed in LTE at 6-12Mbps.

At this point, Verizon needs to get its act together or refund me for lost productivity and the lack of LTE.  I didn't buy an iPhone 5 for 3G.

Very very frustrating.

I updated my phone today, but still, when the phone goes into sleep mode, and you wake it back up it shows 3G instead of wifi! It takes about 3-5 sec to switch back to Wifi. Does this mean it is still using cellular data when on wifi?

My phone has used only 14kb since last night. This update has solved the issue for me.

Yes, several times.  For the past several hours I don't have LTE connectivity, just 3G.  Not sure what is going on.

EDIT:  Of course, after calling Support and not being able to determine the problem, the problem corrected itself on its own.  LTE is back.

It has killed mine too.  The LTE network is showing with 4 bars of service but anytime I try to connect to the internet... NOTHING!  It has me pretty ticked at this point.  I've never had a problem with the data usage and now I apply this "fix" and my internet is gone?  Great job!!! (Heavy sarcasm)  They should check to make sure their updates actually work before pushing them through.

Jeff4Bama, the only thing I can recommend is waiting a while and then turn off the phone, wait another minute or two, then turn it back on.  Might have to do this several times.  Also, check if you get a signal after turning WiFi off in the settings.

Only worked again for me about 5 hours after the update went through.
