Is it me or does it seem like I am paying Verizon more than my fair share of taxes

I look down at the bottom of my bill and there is an explanation of charges and I quote for one charge

  1. "Verizon Wireless surcharges-include charges to recover or help defray costs of taxes and of governmental charges and fees imposed on us by the government.  Other charges, credits - includes charges for products and services, and credits owing".
  2. "Includes sales, excise, and other taxes and governmental surcharges that we are required by law to bill customers"

The way I see it is I am not only paying taxes on my own bill, but I am also paying Verizon's taxes in an offset manner.  Anyone have thoughts on this?
