Anyone able to order Applecare+ for their iPhone 5?  I did not see it as an option.

It has to be purchased via Apple. If you had pre-ordered via Apple then the option would have shown. Unless they change the rules, you will have to go to a local Apple store (or the closest one you can find) within 30 days so they can look at your phone and make sure there is no damage, then you can get AppleCare+. Otherwise, their rule is that it has to be purchased at the same time as your device...BUT since none of the other sellers of the iPhone (the carriers) can sell AppleCare+ like they used to be able to do AppleCare, your only option would be to go to an Apple store after you get your phone. You can check Apple's website about the details related to this. Just go to the AppleCare+ info page.

AppleCare+ seems a better value to me than Asurion protection.

For 100, you get protection for two years - two incidents at a cost of $50 per incident. (No theft coverage)

Asurion is 9.99  per month, with a deductible of $199 - but includes theft coverage.

I never let someone have the opportunity to steal my phone, but I have dropped it in the toilet before. AppleCare+ is the coverage for me.

This is correct with the 4S you could go to Apple in store or online to purchase Apple care + by a certain date for iPhones purchased through Verizon or Sprint!

Square Trade is very good that is true. But when apple care started covering accidents that seemed the better deal because now you have two year phone support and genius support.

I agree...once Apple started offering AppleCare+ with accident coverage it seemed like one of the better options...getting coverage directly from the manufacturer of your device to eliminate any "middle man" situations. Not to knock any of the other options at all. I did not opt for coverage on my previous iPhones and I am still on the fence about this one, but if I decide that I do want it I will go to the Apple store within the 30 day timeframe and get it. I also don't have any real concern about theft although I know the chance always exists no matter how careful you are, but it's not a big enough concern for me to justify the more expensive coverage options. Just depends on what fits your needs best
