Just because SD cards have not created problems for you does not mean that they have not created problems for others. As I said before, go read the Droid Bionic and Atrix forums on Android Central. Apps disappear once they are installed on SD cards. Besides, SD cards are known to fail and if they do they will wipe out your data. One central storage is better than two. Even the new Nexus has one single 32 gig storage. It does not have an SD card. Is that a portent of things to come? Maybe.

As I have said, I don't translate my experience into everyone else's.  At the same time, the statement about having two different storage places creating problems with the OS, sounded like a blanket statement, but it doesn't actually describe everyone's experience.  I avoid Motorola phones for many reasons, and I noticed that both of the ones that you referenced were Motorola phones.

The Nexus S also had all internal storage, as well.  Most other Android phones that came out after that had removable storage.  I don't think that the Nexus line is setting a standard for non-removable storage only phones, but I could be wrong.

1. no choice in phone size, keyboard. Yeah I get that. I would like my iphone to be 4 inch, but anything bigger than that is bulky. As for the keyboard, the iphone has one of the best out there.

At this point, this has become a battle of opinions.  I have small hands and I don't consider anything bigger than 4 inches bulky.  As someone who prefers word tracing keyboards and also prefers the numbers and letters to be on the same screen, the iPhone keyboard is far from being the best out there.

Bulky as in not being able to fit it in your jeans pocket. I wear a 550 levis jeans that has a small pocket within the pocket. It is a perfect fit for my iphone even with a case incluidng a battery case. I seriously doubt that any of these 4.3 inch screen handsets will fit in that pocket.

its about the choice, some people want larger screen some want smaller, some want physical keyboards

4. no sideloading without jailbreaking. Sideloading is a perfect receipe for malware and viruses. We have 500000+ apps in the app store and almost all of them are quality apps. I do not want to sideload an app that will negatively affect the performance of my phone. I paid $200 for my phone and I do not want to spoil it with a rogue app.

I think that no one wants to "spoil it with a rogue app".  That said, there are many quality apps that are not part of the Apple App Store or the Android Market that enhance the use of my phone, rather than spoil it.  Swype is one of them.  You have to read the reviews of the apps in all cases, and not just blindly trust what is in the App Store.  While the apps may be of high quality in regards to the programming, some are silly in purpose.  I need serious talking caller ID, not Santa reading from a pre-determined list of common names to try to identify the caller.  The Android Market has more than one serious talking caller ID program.  The Apple App Store had none the last time I checked.

There are many horror stories of bad apps in the android market. If I had an Android, I will only DL apps from the official Google market. Sideloading is too risky.

again about choice, maybe apple/google pulls an app, but i still want it, let me decide

 5. no removable/swappable battery. Wrong. You can get a battery case that can give you up to 100% charge for your iphone. I have one and it gives me up to a 80% from a dead iphone. It is called a boost case. There is boost case now that is 2200 mah. It will give you more than 100% charge to your iphone.

This line of thinking seems to contradict your overall philosophy of an iPhone being better.  One point is that you said that anything over 4 inches for screen size is bulky.  I would counter that the power cases that I have seen make the phone bulky.  Second, if you paid $200 for a phone, why spend around another $100 just to power it?  I spent less than $20 on the extended battery for my Sensation.  Based on percentage of the lower cost, that is a huge difference.

The power case is not bulky. I told you that I can still fit my iphone 4 in the little Levis 550 jeans pocket and not be annoyed by the phone. It fits. It is not bulky. Second the boost case sells for $40, hardly that expensive when you come down to it. There are other battery cases that are even cheaper. I got one with the same mah as the boost case with a leather holster for $40. I did not use the holster, but I could if I wanted to.

again what if the battery goes bad? it happens.  i dont want to have to send it to apple to have it replaced

8. no sd card slot. Why do you need an SD card when you can get a 16, 32, or 64 gig iphone? Do you really need more than 64 gig? Besides SD cards create problems. Go read on the Bionic and Atrix forums how Apps are disappearing when stored on the SD card. Apple use the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) to creating handsets. Having two storage areas on your phone and having the OS alternate between them creates problems like I told you. Just have one large storage area and be done with it.

Once again, if you want additional storage on an iPhone, you have to pay $100 more for each capacity level bump.  That is ridiculous considering that 16GB SD cards are sold for less than $20 and 32GB cards are less than $40.  This is a rip-off from Apple.  Also considering that some people have multiple devices that they would use SD cards in, this makes music and photo storage and sharing easier.  Having SD card slots also reduces the need to use iTunes, for those of us that don't like it.  The SD cards haven't created problems with the Android devices that I have used.  KISS can work for some people.  However, I don't consider myself simple or stupid, and therefore don't need to be coddled in this way.

i may want to carry my entire music library on one card and my movies on another card for an extended trip.

you never know.   sd cards are cheap.  again, if they want to put levels of storage in the phone thats fine.  but let me have a slot in case i want to use it

but they wont, no one would buy a 64gb if they can buy an 8 and pop a card in

mdram4X4, your example about multiple SD cards for different libraries is one of the most solid points yet in the favor of Android.

Can anyone comment as to whether moisture (rain, sweat, a wet hand from touching a glass of iced tea) causes the display on iphones to go completely bonkers like the display on my Droid X?

D, I haven't seen such an anomaly on my iPhone so far. I can't recall seeing it on my X, either, but I've said enough about that phone for one lifetime..:smileyvery-happy:

I finally was able to upgrade from my Droid 2.  I frankly liked the phone when it worked, but that was something that hit and miss.  Crashed and rebooted almost every day.  Verizon had to replace the phone several times because it outright failed (that was a Droid, eventually they gave me a Droid 2 which did not have any catastrophic failures)

After looking at the top end Android phones, I decided they were too big and that I was sick of all the issues I had with my Droid (my wife's Droid was not as bad as mine, but was still trouble).

I activated my iPhone last night.  Still getting used to it, but I can say this, it just works.  No crashes today.  It was fairly intuitive to use.  There are definitely some quirks (I cannot figure out how to have no tone when receiving text while still having the phone vibrate).  Battery life does not appear to be great, but I've adjusted some settings and seems to be a bit better now but I'll withhold judgment on this (critical) issue.

Choose the "none" text tone in settings and make sure you have the Vibrate turned on. I have both of them on...the one under silent and the one that does it with the sound. If choosing the "none" tone doesn't male it work as you like then you can make a silent ringtone and then set that one. In that case, it will work because I did this for my moms phone.  Battery life does not appear to be great, but I've adjusted some settings and seems to be a bit better now but I'll withhold judgment on this (critical) issue.

Kaebfly,

Your workaround for getting the phone to be silent while vibrating for texts works like a charm.  Thanks.  Also, I'm pleased to report that after initially thinking the battery life on the iPhone was no good, now that I have used it for a while, I can report that battery life is actually quite good, and defiitely considerably better than my old Droid 2 with the extended battery.

I don't hate the iPhone at all, it is a wonderful product and I almost bought one when I dumped my crappy blackberry touch 2.5 years ago. The reason I went with an android phone was because of the ease of customizing. Ringtones/textones for contacts, LED. The other big reason is I am not a fan of iTunes. I can't really say what I don't like about it, I have a zune and use zune marketplace for my music, which I absouletely love, so I didn't want to have to move all my music and be tied down with an iTunes account. I also love the way android is set up with the marketplace. Would it be nice if android phones didn't freeze up as much as they do? Yeah it'd be great. But its just a matter of personal preference, both are amazing and I know I'd be very happy with either of them. Android just suits me more than apple

I had an iPhone 4s.  I went to the Verizon store yesterday after looking over the 2 newest android devices, the Nexus and Rezound.  I chose the Rezound because of all the reviews I've read on it.  I've had android devices in the past, so I thought I'd try them again.  Complete fail.  I have no way of putting my iTunes music on the phone and my favorite app, the Dish Network app doesn't work on the new phone.  So, I'll be off to the Verizon store in a couple of days to trade back into an iPhone.  iPhones just simply work.  Never had an issue with mine and it had the best signal of any phone I've ever used in my house.  I would go back to the iPhone 4s I had but, my son decided he wanted to get away from android, so he acquired it from me.

Sounds like you are trolling, as both statements that you made are not true. i Tunes can be put on Android, and Dish network works great on the Rezound. If you are going to troll, at least get your facts straight.
