What do I need to do to activate an iPhone 4 that used to be on AT&T to my Verizon account?

A friend of mine gave me his old iPhone 4 and I want to activate it on my Verizon account. He had AT&T, and heard I can activate it on my Verizon account if the IMEI is unlocked. Is this all that is needed to be done for me to activate it through Verizon?

An iPhone 4 from ATT will never work on Verizon Wireless because it doesn't have the CDMA radio needed to work on the Verizon Wireless network.
The ATT iphone will work on another GSM network if it is SIM unlocked. Your friend needs to request the unlock before giving it to you.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
