Once again I didn't send a bad check.  Thanks for your input.

If you send something that is not available when they receive it this means it's a bad check. In my business if someone tells me not to cash a check for 7 days I tell them to do business elsewhere. Imagine going to Best Buy and saying "Here's a check but don't cash it for a week, Thanks for the new TV"

Get some proper credit. Credit is everything in adult life. Not sure how old you are but you can't do anything without good credit.

Say what??? Then why hold it?? You knowingly knew it would not clear, that is why you wanted it to be held.

John you have no idea what I can afford or know nothing about me. So please make no assumptions because you will always look horrible in the end.  Just because you are perfect and never make a mistake in life, please don't judge those of us that do.  Thank you for your comments.  I do now see that venting my frustrations with your company in this public domain was another hard learned mistake and will not happen again. It is quit obvious that you work for Verizon and have their best interest at heart. Have a wonderful Verizon customer service day.

OK, Verizon has it set up in "their" business, that they can and will accept a hold for 7 days on checks when the situation dictates, Mr. Perfect.  I know you never have to do that John (obviously I was wrong about you working for Verizon, another blunder on my part and once again more ASSumptions on yours) becuase you are perfect.  One day I will strive to be somewhat like you.  Have a wonderful day.  You can flame someone else though.

Okay, im going to throw my hat in on this, and, for the record i do not work for Verizon, nor am i any kind of Verizon fanboy. And i don't think the other guy is eaither and he wasn't trying to flame you. It is partially Verizon's fault for saying you could do that with a check. Most buisnesses, espically ones like Verizon, Dish Network, and them do not let you do that. They get a check from you they're going to cash it whether you have the money in there or not. The other guy made a vaild point, you couldn't do this at a Best Buy so you can't do it with Verizon. It's just not how it works, and, don't blame the whole company of Verizon for this because there is something you have to realize about CSR, now to clairfy i did work CSR at Bank of America. The CSR can only do so much and sometimes they make a judgement call that is just wrong and will not work for you. It's not the companies fault, it's the CSR's fault. I know your angry right now, but, there is no use getting on here and saying stuff like, "We work for Verizon, obviously you have their best interests at heart." No, we're only trying to get the facts across to you so that you know what's going on. I hope this helps you.

Okay if you are getting irritated that people are not taking your side that is ridiculous. It is not our fault that you didn't have enough funds in your account to cover your bill, nor is it verizons fault. Maybe you should have kept  your " Wait'll you get a load of this" discussion to yourself  because you are obviously the only person that thinks you are not in the wrong. Nice try.

I guess I'm confused on why you couldn't just wait the week out until you had the money. Now you're going to have to pay a returned check fee and be on the Cash Only list for six months. Impatience can be pricey.

Here's the part of the story he doesn't want you to know: In order to become cash-only, one must meet one of three criteria: A) he'd have to have bounced THREE checks in the past while (not sure how long, I think either 6 months or a year), B) he'd be a brand new account and bounced a check, or C) he bounced a HUGE check (over $400 I think). NOBODY who has a longstanding account gets put on cash-only for one regular bounced check. He's hiding the fact that he has a history of bouncing them.
