My iPhone will not send or receive email. I have Cox email. When I called Verizon I was told that Cox and Verizon have compatibility issues with their networks and to call Cox to see if they had any other servers I could use. I called Cox and was given two available outgoing servers to use (587 & 465). Email still will not send or receive.
This cannot be an isolated problem. I am very surprised that Verizon did not realize this was going to be a problem before the iPhone was released. Does anyone else have this problem? I really do not want to have to go to a free email provider and change my address. What a pain!

Just a note I also have the problem of sending e-mail outgoing using any of the Cox settings while on Verizon 3G network. No problems when on my home WiFi.
Cox technical support had no solutions to the problem. I suspect that Verizon and Cox have network compatibility problems as of March 2011. Thinking of Gmail to solve immediate problems

I have an iPhone 4 and Cox email. Everything worked fine for weeks, and then I stopped receiving email. Called Verizon and was given new port numbers to use: 995 for incoming, 465 for outgoing. This is consistent with the "solution" posted here. Worked OK for a few hours, and now I am back to only getting emails occasionally.
