I have an I phone 4 and this morning I received a text message that was filled with weird symbols I shut the phone off and the text messages were coming in fine but then it started to send weird symbols again!! What do I do?
If the person sending you the texts has symbols in their signature or are using emoticons or emoji apps for texting then you will likely get these garbled texts. This is a known issue. You can't fix the issue but the person texting you can by not using emoticons or the emoji app when texting you.
on a side note, it's awesome etiquette to name your topic title something more than "phone"
