I thought about that also. I've noticed (well I noticed this months before the iPhone was announced for VZ) that AT&T significantly slowed down on their iPhone ads...most of the ads were Apple ads while AT&T was heavily promoting the Torch and then the Android phones. Yes, it was expected that they would promote these devices also, but in the past even with new devices AT&T still heavily promoted the iPhone...to the point of near annoyance lol. I say this not because I have VZ....I'm a little sick of the VZ iPhone push also...especially when logging into my account lol. But that's why I said Apple may shock everyone...and there may not be a release at all this year for the iPhone. Either to align both carriers to release around the same time or the possibility that AT&T won't continue to sell it...lots of possibilites exist.
That's true. That might actually be a huge thing for Apple breaking from the Trend. I think they won't do that though. It may overload their servers selling 10-30 million iphones in 1 month across the world. They would need a huge amount of faith for their new data server.
I'm just hoping that they give us a 4.3.x update in the near future - the ability to share videos/music from my home pc via WiFi could considerably decrease the amount of memory I will be using on the actual phone, and actually increase my use throughout my home.
Remember you can only do home sharing when you are home and on the same wifi connection as the computer. You can't use this when you are away at a hotel.
I don't do a lot of travelling, so not a big deal. I'm thinking more of the fact that my PC is in the living room, but I do tend to spend time elsewhere in my domocile.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm not going to be a happy camper if the Verizon iphone is going to be second rate as compared to the AT&T version. So I would expect that iOS 4.3 will be sent our way one heck of a lot sooner than next year or this July. If the iphone 5 comes out in the summer and the AT&T iphone 4 users get an even newer version of the OS while we're still stuck on iOS 4.2.6, Verizon will have one less customer. I'll switch to AT&T, no matter what the cost.... dropped calls and all!

It's not the network that releases iOs updates so if you use that as your reason to switch then be ready to be a very unhappy camper. If you switch and the next update is for VZ and ithas something extra that the AT&T one has you will be in the same boat. Make complaints about iOS updates (or lack of) to Apple. Despite the almost twin like product, Apple views the CDMA iPhone a different creature than the GSM....so for now, the iOS update is compatiable with the GSM. No one said it will be next year for an iOs update...until Apple releases it no one has a clue.
I understand that. My problem is that why all the cloak and dagger? First of all if any and all updates to the iphone are determined by Apple and VZW does not restrict that, then my apologies for any perceived criticism of VZW. Secondly any perceived concern by me or any others who have a Verizon iphone have every right to be concerned over what exactly we purchased. And believe me I've tried going the Apple route to find answers and they're not saying anything either. So for now I have to conclude that we VZW users have a second rate iphone as compared to the AT&T version. Until it is established as to how the two versions are going to be addressed in terms of software updates and based on how this upcoming iOS update is being presented, there is no other possible conclusion based on the facts (or lack thereof) presented by both Apple and VZW.

Well, it's sort of a no-win for Apple or the carriers. By the time Verizon got the iPhone, the AT&T version was 8 months old, so if there is no update for that, the AT&T people get mad. If the iPhone 5 comes to both carriers at the same time, people who bought the VZ version are going to be angry that their phone is out of date after four months etc.
Of course, we don't know Apple's plans, but can you really be surprised that there is a chance that the VZ iPhone, for now, will be "second rate"? You knew the AT&T version had been out for a long time and that it was at least possible that would get an upgrade first?
And, there are always newer better phones coming out, that's the GOOD thing about the cellular industry!
