Re: IM SCREAMING OUT LOUD. Just spent a half our trying to upgrade to a smartphone, and got down to the very last page to checkout, and was then told Verizon is charging a $30.00 fee to upgrade.

Sneaky? Hey buddy this was announced MONTHS ago. Also go ahead and leave. At&t and Sprint both charge upgrade fees and they're $36. So good luck with that.

The upgrade fee was announce in late March-early April and made effective on April 22, 2012.  The unlimited data information was announce when the Share Everything Plans were announce in mid June and then made effective on June 28, 2012.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Welcome to what world? I have been with VZW for about a decade now. A scam would be selling an iPad and delivering a turnip instead. Verizon Wireless isn't "scamming" anyone. All of the info is available right up front.

Welcome to OUR WORLD:)  Verizon always has and always will find a new excuss for their scams  Not their fault....Oh Never said the "SILVER HAIR FOX"

It has been and always will be "Your Choice" to use a wireless provider. Do I agree with all the things Verizon is doing? No, but they are not "scams" by any means. They are service options. If you don't want to use their new service(s), then choose another company. Your choice.

This is America, where the consumer is responsible for whatever knowledge they bring to the table when making a purchase. If you do not properly inform yourself, buyer beware. Whomp whomp...

Well...  We could always all go back to land lines like the 80's and 90's and pretend cell service doesn't exist...  If we all did it for 6 months, the good offers would come.... oh yes the offers would come rolling in...

Bottom line: Americans don't need everything, we just WANT everything, whether we can afford it or not.  We create the holes and we bury ourselves in them by consuming for the WANTS, then call them "needs".  The corporate world adjusts and accommodates, then unfortunately, charges a premium for everything popular and/or convenient.  Ergo land lines and dial up modems are no where near as convenient as a cell phone.  game, set, match!!  you pay $30 upgrade plus $250 or more for the prettiest, coolest and fastest-smartest cell phone you can find.  Guess what...a year or two from now, you will do it again.

If you can figure out how to be on the ground floor of the next "cool, convenient thing", please invite me to invest!!  Because I WANT!!
