How do I connect to Wi-Fi without any networks listed?

So I went to bed with wifi that was working just fine and one that I normally never have an issue with. I woke up this morning to a text from Verizon saying that my data was at 75% (I have 2 GB and given that I'm always near a place with wireless it's suited me just fine for years), and noticed that my wifi wasn't working. I turned it on and off, turned the airport mode on and off, did all sorts of troubleshooting things that Google told me to do (reset network settings, hard turn off, normal turn off, a combination of all of these things, etc.). Nothing has worked. I can turn ON and OFF the wifi just fine in the settings but NO network names come up on the list. My wireless router is working just fine, as I can access the internet from my macbook air and my kindle fire. I do have a case, but it's plastic (I've seen other people saying some metal cases have interfered with their wireless)

I've moved closer to the wireless router, I've unplugged and replugged the wireless router, reset the wireless router, but all to no avail--no wireless networks listed on my iPhone. None at all, not mine, not dozens of my neighbours. I do have an upgrade available and have been wanting to upgrade to the 5s (because the 6 is just too expensive for my taste right now), but I won't get paid until next Friday. Is there anything else I can do to fix this for now that I'm not thinking of? I do not have warranty anymore, but I do have some kind of insurance (although the last time my phone broke they didn't fix it or give me a new one for free/for a reduced price so I'm not entirely sure what kind of insurance I have).

Sounds like your wifi antenna bit the dust. Upgrade to the 5S - $100 w 2yr contract, bill it to your account and it will be on your next bill, or if you are on the MoreEverything plan the Edge payment plan is another good option with no up front $ needed.

Thank you for the response. Just tried a complete restore and that still didn't work, so it's definitely the wifi antenna.. bummer. Didn't know you could bill it to your account, that's definitely something I'll look into. Thanks again!

Billing to the account is an option for some...not all.  Check with VZW...

I qualified for it and ordered a new phone. They definitely have a lot of requirements for billing to account, but I'm happy that I could do that instead. Thank you guys for taking the time to reply and help out.

Deexojay,

We want to get you connected to WIFI again. I would like to clarify a few things with you. Are you able to turn WIFI on? Do you have trouble with connecting to all WIFI connections? Is the software version up to date on the phone? Please let us know.

When my wifi is "turned on" it's not connected to anything. I turn it off and on and nothing happens. Yes all wifi, my house, my sister and the woman I nanny for. Yes, my phone is up to date.

Thank you for your reply. With it not connecting to any wifi connections let's dive a little deeper. On the phone have you tried to reset the network settings? If not please try the following Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.

The phone will power off and turn back on. Upon it powering back on please dial *288 and option 1. Once that has been completed please dial #832 and retest connecting to WIFI.
