As I responded in the other thread that you started with the same question, is the iPhone currently under contract? If it is, you may not be able to do it. If it is not, then you should be able to activate that phone on your line with no problem. Just be aware that the Octane is a feature phone, and only needed the $9.95 data plan, while the iPhone will require a minimum of a 2GB data plan @ $30.00 . Just so you are aware..

I don't know so just looking to clarify. I thought that te $30 data plan was only required if you bought a subsidized phone not if you are

actiivating a phone you bought somewhere else.

Any smartphones made after Nov 08 require the data package regardless of where it was purchased and since the Octane isn't a smartphone, the OP would need to choose from one of the current line based tiered data plans OR switch to Share Everything.

Nope, the data plan is based on the type of phone you have, not how you got it. As PJ said, as of November 2008, any smartphone released after that date required a minimum data plan of 2GB per month.

Dmarie3,

I am a 12 year Verizon customer - and I tried to call a live person to help you with your answer - but this web site won't give out phone numbers.

Does it bother you that we have to turn to blogs and forums and ask each other for help when we are the customers of Verizon?  I have 6 family lines and 5 personal lines. I am leaving one by one.

Good luck.   You can talk to a real person but you have to dial 411 to get the customer service line, and they bill you for that . . . .

Good luck.

Customer Service is *611 from your phone or 1-800-922-0204 from another phone. This information is available on your bill.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Additionally, the numbers Ann154 have provided ARE available on this website. You just have to click the "Contact Us" link at the top of this page.

With that in mind, NO it does not bother me.
