I just bought an iPhone 4S and transferred my phone number from another carrier to Verizon. Ever since I activated the phone, I've been able to initiate calls and texts to anyone I want with no problems, but I only receive texts from Verizon carriers (iMessages work with any number) and don't receive any calls at all. Any calls to my number go straight to Voicemail (which I never receive) and I simply don't receive texts, though they seem successful on the other end. To be clear, I have no trouble receiving any texts from a number with Verizon. I have tried reprogramming my network through *228 options 1 and 2 as well as a total reset of my phone and nothing has worked. I don't know what else I can try.

Your old carrier may have the number active as well and tge calls are going tO it I would check with your old carrier to be sure the line is disabled you might also try a complete power down and up of your new phone
