It's only good to homogenize the name of their is similarities between products and your product is well known. I do think the surface brings a more recognizable name. Definitely think it'd be a smart move. Then I do think you have to make it a big phablet though which I'm not a fan of. Then they could do a small and a big one though.

I think that once you exceed 6", the sheer size of the unit starts to become a bit unwieldy to hold up to the ear.
Somewhere in the future Microsoft, Samsung or Apple could always add phone capabilities to their tablets and use Bluetooth to facilitate communication.

They actually do. Both calls and texts on some OS are pushed through via network whether data or wifi. You actually don't even need to be on the same network. The only call I want on my tablet though is face chat. Which is really going to be skype anyways. Which is owned by Microsoft. I can't remember if on iOS it has to be from iPhone to iPhone though for texts. I believe it only pushes FaceTime which would obviously have to be iOS to iOS.

DOH!...Skype slipped past me. I'm envisioning something more along the lines of standard cellular calling capabilities...ala...just like a smartphone or dumbphone.

Hold a mobile phone up to the ear? What is this? 2002? (Yea, I know people still do it.)
I can't remember the last time I held my phone up to my ear. I like my Plantronics Voyager headset too much for that.

Maybe they'll come out with name groupings like they do Windows & Office versions. Home, Professional, etc.

Surface Phone S/M/XL just using this as a simple easy to get your point across homoginzed naming scheme. I believe they should make a 4.5-4.8, 5-5.3, 5.7-6.0 size phones. Of course personal opinion. is bar far better Lumina 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000, 1500 with every number imaginable in between. Harder to confuse the consumers than the latter.

I definitely think they need to simplify it and completely agree sickfreak and tidbits. Someone shouldn't be wondering if the 1050 is better then the just announced 950. Something like home, premium, and ultimate would be interesting. Just have home 1,2,3 each year it gets better. You could still have an Ultimate S,M, or XL. Ultimate 2 S,M, or XL the following year. Microsoft can still hit multiple market levels. I'd consider making it even clearer which one his low, medium, and high end. It works for OS since that market isn't as flooded as phones are.

This is actually what my tech friend said at Verizon, basically the reality is; regardless of block C regulations, if Verizon does not have the MEID (means they don’t support the phone, his words) in their system, it is not going to work right. Even getting it activated with a current SIM. He said in his opinion based on what he has seen and heard in his own store VZW and Microsoft have issues.
