Agree with grafixguy. You pay a premium to be on Verizon's network -- the customer experience should be excellent as a result.

What I've heard is that the different screen used on the Icon vs. the 928 and 822 (no glance screen on the Icon) is a major stumbling block and one of several factors holding up the updates for the Icon.

It doesn't matter what any of us have heard unless we all hear it publicly from Verizon and Microsoft. There's quite obviously an issue with this phone and we're entitled to know what that is.

I heard this for a developer for WP. It's not the only problem, but it sounds like it is still an issue.

Reminds me of the Motorola Cliq for T-Mobile. Was the reason there was a delay for their update as Sharp didn't finish a driver they needed for the update. Took them nearly a year waiting on Sharp back then. Everyone blames T-Mobile for the update and all speculated it was T-Mobile even if Motorola stepped up and said what was going on. T-Mobile even gotten sued for it.

This software update release 8.1 on Nokia 929 from VZW has been "pending" since I purchased this phone May 2014. Throughout these past 8 months I have heard various responses from Verizon and Microsoft direct on the release 8.1 (dates I connected with Verizon May 2014, Nov 2014 & December 2014).
As of today 2.2.15 I have been told directly from tier 2 of VZW technical department along with Microsoft direct-The 8.1 software update is "not currently available" on the Nokia 929. Nor is there a release date from Microsoft / Verizon.
LIARS!
Keep in mind I chose my windows device to avoid the fragmentation such as Android. Big BOO, is all I have to say, they got the best of me- and now I have a "old phone" with old software.

Yes, the whole was a joke.. A flagship phone is using the oldest system.. and none of them has told us why..

We need to band together and exert some pressure on Verizon so that they know this is unacceptable. Unfortunately, there's only 12 of us that bought the 929.

Talk to Microsoft. http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2014/12/19/verizon-announces-windows-phone-8-1-upgrades-for...
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
