T-Mobile hasn't released any updates to their devices either so you really aren't going to win anything going over there.  Plus they are the ones that refuse to update the 810 for whatever reason.

You're better off going to a Microsoft store to get better support/devices for Windows Phone and better insurance where you can get a brand new device instead of VZW policy of getting a defective refurbished one.  VZW stores are Andriod/iPhone fanboys and that's the only support they will give you.  Microsoft needs to up the incentives to these store to sell their devices.

Also VZW doesn't support these community; it's peer-to-peer community.  There only response is go to this page or that page or subscript to the useless newsletter.  Billing problems might get you a better response...

No you don't share any excitement with us, Verizon. If you did that darn update would be out by now.

Sometimes I feel like I should just save my reply and cut and paste it. However, Verizon and any other carrier does not have to give you an update. They do not have to allow it on their network period.

If they allow its use the carrier is not obligated to furnish any updates for the life of the device.

I feel for those that have to have the best upgrades available. However it would be far better if the device maker in conjunction with the os  developer put out their own updates just like Apple does.

Then folks can stop blaming the carriers. This is my biggest pet peeve.

Sure complain to anyone you wish, but complain to the right companies. Not the cellular providers.

And good luck at T-Mobile

Good Luck

I can agree with your post since you are using reasoning.

If more folks used your common sense, these crazy threads would not exist.

You are sounding like the manufacturers actually have choice in this matter.  You are clearly making a FALSE statement!  Microsoft and, in particular, Joe Belfiore, head of the Windows Phone division has been trying to get Verizion to contact them to set up exactly what you are saying, and exactly what Apple has, for a while now.  If what you are saying is true, then CONTACT JOE AT MICROSOFT AND SET IT UP!  Stop lying and blaming Microsoft for something you guys won't do!  If you are tired of reading these complaints, then get with Microsoft and see about allowing them full updates to their Lumia line just like Apple has with their iPhone line and you won't have this headache anymore!

elector, let me clear.  I agree, the FCC has no real power here, nor will they waste their time with such complaints.

But why do insist in repeating your position and busting these guys chops?  If they want to waste their time, let them.  Walk away from the debate.

Why don't we have the update?  VZW, Nokia,  MSFT, I'm not sure.  All I know is I want my update.  MSFT claims they rolled it out to VZW.  VZW told me, it needs to be approved by them for release.  If it is a case of VZW approving, then they should approve, if it is a case of Mr. Softy only giving it to ATT, I doubt it as they are running adds, carrier neutral, for Cortana now,  it if so, Mr Softy needs to move forward.

i Suspect it is VZW, as they have a history of slow rollouts.  As for the deal Apple got and Mr. Softy has not for direct rollouts, I imagine Apple took the responsibility of rollout corrections so. VZW doesn't have to, and the lower cost own Apple the deal.  Now MSFT could make the same deal, but given the % of customers using WP, I doubt anybody is evening discussing it.

First I don't work for Verizon wireless. Your first assumption is false.

Now let's play a mind game.

Microsoft is a very large and profitable company. So is Verizon wireless. Now here is where you engage the brain, don't you personally think that if Joe from Microsoft wanted to contact Verizon Wireless would it be safe to believe he can call them.

Let's also use our minds once again, Microsoft and their device maker partners don't have enough sales numbers to make Verizon wireless budge as they had to do if they wanted to carry the iPhone. Are you still following me?

The windows phone is a low seller at all cellular providers and until they get the high sales and use numbers like iphones (iOS ) and Android devices the carriers could care less.

The statement I referred to is " I personally believe any and all device upgrades/updates should be done just like Apple does for their devices. Will the carriers like to be out of the loop? I cannot say.

But as of this moment and don't get me wrong on own multiple computers running windows 8.1 I personally think that windows phone was a mistake, it was pushed out with little support, with limited functions and an app store that even now pales in comparison to Apple and Google Play stores.

And to top that off, a little owned device on Verizon is having folks wimper how I want my updates, it is my right to have my updates, the FCC is going to get ya Verizon etc.

Just like all those Apple and Android device updates that people whine about how they want and need and better get. Then BAM after they get it they are right back here blaming Verizon for the updates causing the devices to not function as before. And with Apple devices Verizon did not even do the update and they receive all the complaints and threats.

Slow down and wait until it comes out if it ever comes out.

Verizon is not obligated to update any device unless they wish to.

Good Luck

Yeah, let's play another mind game:   Anyone can call anyone, however that doesn't mean that if Joe called Verizon anyone would necessarilty talk to him.  As you stated yourself, "...windows phone is a low seller at all cellular providers and until they get the high sales nd use numbers like iphones (iOS) and Android devices the carriers could care less."  Reason enough not to take Joes call.

You are entitled to your opinion, but just because you think the Windows Phone was a "mistake" doesn't mean the rest of us have to agree with you.  And just because ANY phone doesn't sell as well as the iPhone, doesn't mean they deserve any less attention.  As you stated, Verizion doesn't even touch the iPhone, so where are they spending their time for the updates they DO have to touch, like Windows Phones?

Lumia Windows Phones are not like Android phones.  Microsoft (Nokia turned Microsoft Mobile OY) builds all Lumia Phones and ALL Windows Phones have the exact same OS that CANNOT be modified like Android.  Apps can be created for the phones, but no modification on the OS is allowed.  Therefore, the only thing that should need testing is the actual firmware, not the OS.

And as far as your comment "Verizon is not obligated to update any device unless they wish to"...That is our point.  No one is saying they are obligated to, but if THEY are the ones who DEMAND that they have CONTROL over the updates, then they ARE the ones holding up the updates that we WANT!  If they don't want the RESPONSIBILITY to update the device and hear all the complaints, then release the responsibility back to the manufacturers and let them update it directly.  Then, Verizion could just tell their tech support people, you wil have to call ###-###-#### and speak to the manufacturer for tech support of that device, we only provide support for our network issues.

Simple as that.  That mind game is called "thinking outside the box to find a solution, instead of ACCEPTING something as what it is no matter how wrong or stupid it may be."
