8.1 brings a lot of great features to Windows Mobile Devices. I'm really curious and excited about Cortana.
qaid786, while there are no new details about the release of 8.1, please use the Email Updates service to stay up to date with all the latest information once it is released. http://bit.ly/dDumph

It is now available. To update, you need to sign up as a developer with Microsoft. Not sure if links are supported here, but a quick google search will get you on the right track. Once signed up, simply download the Preview for Developers app in the store on your phone. Then just search for phone updates as you normally would.
Keep in mind, this update will only be the phone OS, and will not include firmware, radio, or any other carrier specific updates related to 8.1.

Bossrgr375,
I do have a developer access with Microsoft. I bought my Nokia Lumia Icon last month, an upgrade to 8.1 will void all warranties. I was curious as to when Verizon will make this upgrade available to all eligible Nokia Lumia cell phones.
Thanks

Verizon does not release dates for updates, as I am sure you are aware. But I am curious as to what warranty you are worried about being affected. I am sure Verizon might have stipulations that a developer upgrade would void a warranty on their end, but it will not void the Nokia warranty. Nokia will cover your phone for 12mo from the purchase date. I have read through it and can assure you it will not void theirs.
I upgraded on the 14th to 8.1 and can assure you it is all smooth sailing. I have found no bugs so far. I even googled bugs, just to see if I missed anything.

HEY VERIZON - If you would become a part of the WP Beta Programs with these updates, YOU WOULD know when your updates would be available because you would be able to release them when Microsoft makes them available.
And wouldn't that be a surprise.
Contact Joe Belfiore at Microsoft via email, Facebook or Twitter and get onboard NOW.

There is no beta program (yet) for WP8.1. There is only a developer's preview, and it's pretty buggy still. Verizon cannot become a developer, but you can. It will cost you $19 per year and you get access to the DP releases. Personally I'm waiting to see if they iron out some of the kinks before I jump in.
