I read with amusement it mirrors what I am reading here on the Verizon Help Forum.

The same where is my update, AT&T pushed it out, I am going to buy my device elsewhere. The only difference is T-Mobile said look for later in the year. And their news central as Verizon wireless directs you to.

As I wrote many times they release when they want to. No matter how many complaint posts.

Looks like we are going to have to get our Senators and Congressman involved in this fight.  Something has to be done in this country to mandate updates be provided either directly from manufactures or requireing testing be completed in a shorter period of time!  5 to 6 weeks is just REDICULOUS!  I'm contacting Senator Mary Landrieu and Senator David Vitter of Louisiana!  If Apple can get direct updates, the rest of us should as well!

Why is that? This is a contract negotiation between Apple and phone providers. If someone negotiates a contract with a company, those terms DO NOT automatically transfer to all other contracts. I'm sure NBA players would like it though. Your whole point is moot!  REGARDLESS of the reason (contract or otherwise), Apple users are afforded a benefit that I am not , and yet we pay the same monthly fee for the (otherwise) same service.  Regardless of any contract Verizon has with Apple, I as a Windows Phone user should not be penalized for not owning an Apple product simply because Verizon chooses not to offer this same kind of contract to Microsoft.  Verizon is responsible for creating the environment of discrimination based on their choices of contractual offerings with manufacturers.  Non-Apple users should not be penalized with long update delays based on Verizon's choice of contract, especially when I pay the same monthly fee as iPhone users do for their plans.

Nope, in all walks of life people get the same benefits at different prices distributed via different means. This is no different and is unlikely to EVER change. Additionally, this is not discrimination which by definition is based upon prejudice. These are contract negotiations which is based upon agreements between 2 companies according to what the different parties bring to the table.

First of all, you don't KNOW if you pay the same monthly fee. Some people get discounts of varying degrees while others get no discounts. The amount people pay is not the same across the board. There is the "advertised" price and then there are other factors taken into account which MAY change the amount paid for the service. The amount you pay for service is ALSO not discrimination, but again it is contract negotiations between 2 entities.

It is NOT unusual in ANY industry for people to pay differing amounts for the same service OR for people to pay the same amount for different services.

Good luck with getting Congress and your representatives to stop laughing long enough to finish your request to forbid companies to go into contract negotiations with other companies.

I don't care what "discounts" someone else gets on their plan.  That is between Verizon and that individual.  The point of contention is that  the actual "advertised" price is the same for all customers for each plan regardless of their device.  I may get a discount for being a hospital employee or a government employee but, that doesn't mean an Apple iPhone user doesn't get that same discount if they are a hospital employee or government employee.  But, Apple iPhone users do receive direct updates to their device while I have to wait for testing for mine and that is not a benefit offered to me, so where is my "waiting for update" additional discount?

I don't care either. Nor do I care that iPhones get updates pushed via Apple and other phones don't. That is between Verizon and the device manufacturer to negotiate those conditions. Complain to Microsoft that they did not negotiate the terms you would like. Whether or not Microsoft has the leverage and/or incentive to get those terms is questionable.

Different phones have different benefits not offered by other phones. There is no way around that. Does an iPhone offer the "benefit" of having Windows Live Tiles on the phone? Why is that "benefit" not offered to all other devices???? Where is my "no Windows Live Tiles" additional discount. You choose the phone platform for the benefits it offers you. Unfortunately, not all platforms have the same benefits. It appears UNTIL Microsoft negotiates direct updates with Verizon you will either have to live with it, change providers OR get an iPhone.

I wish he would get an iPhone

Then he would be complaining about how his device does not get WiFi, or Bluetooth does not work with his car, or the huge data drains or the on/off button not working or the calls going directly to voice mail, or the phone not ringing etc. on this forum.

However complaining about it on this forum would not be the right place to complain since Verizon did nothing to the update. Apple did.
