Re: Nokia announced Cyan availability 4 weeks ago. What is the rollout plan, Verizon?

You must do what you believe is right for you.

If having/not having an update, or a communication as to when it will be done to your device sways you to another carrier then the best to you.

You might not like posts over and over but the truth is still the truth.

Another poster was written to where the device maker stated they had no idea when the update will be available. They posted the email and yet still blamed Verizon for the lack of it. Does that make sense to you? Now Verizon wireless is being blamed for the device makers lack of a time table.

Good Luck

Duh.  Of course I'm doing what's right for me.  I'm also using another outlet, in addition to the one I used in the store when I re-upped with Verizon again, to let them know of dissatisfaction.

That cool with you?

Verizon doesn't "push out the update".  Verizon receives the firmware update that requires testing on their network because the "firmware" actually makes changes to the hardware of the phone and Verizon needs to ensure this will not cause connectivity issues on their network.  (Something I actually support).  After they complete the testing, they grant approval to the manufacturers to push the update out to  your phone through Verizon's network.

Having clarified that however, I have two issues with this.  1) It takes Verizon way too long to complete this necessary testing.  AT&T does the same testing and they can complete 4 phones before Verizon can get one!  2) I find it extremely unfair, aggrevating and discriminatory that Windows Phone, Symbian, Android and all other phones on Verizon have to go through this irritating testing process, while Apple iPhone users get their updates directly from Apple without any delay.  We pay the same monthly rate for the Verizon communication service that they do, yet we have to wait for our updates and they don't.  It's a disciminatory act and we PAYING CUSTOMERS need to voice our displeasure strongly to Verizon, the FCC, our congressmen and senators and make this UNFAIR policy go away!

Apple devices go through the same process. The difference is Apple waits until all the carriers have completed the testing and all the certification for Bluetooth, wifi, GSM networks and CDMA networks are approved. Then and only then does Apple say it is ready.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I don't know how accurate that is.  So when Apple announces the iPhone 6 later this year and states the date when you can purchase the phone; the date is well in advance.  So Apple cannot wait till the carriers test.  So Apple most likely tells the carriers you will be done before this date.

Same goes for updates I believe; they announce the date beforehand.  Granted giving the carriers enough time to test.

Actually no...

Join ADC if you want to see how its done. Testing is done and when the GM build is ready it's already tested to work on carrier networks. Any carrier that wants to carry the iPhone is required to join ADC.

If the person that says Verizon withheld 4.3 for the iPhone on Verizon. That's a false assumption. Much like the iPad it wasn't in the developmental cycle initially and the device was later folded into the same cycle. Apple picks a date when development is finished not a hard date when everyone should be finished. If they produce a device mid cycle they don't delay the update. Also the iPhone for Verizon was a higher version and hand a lot of the fixes already included.

(removed) they really don't want to release the 8.1 update to the Nokia customers!  I have just today seen an article that has a chat session posted that shows a Verizon rep LYING to a customer.  Oh well guess they can do that.

Why would Verizon want to keep from rolling out 8.1/Cyan to Nokia customers??  Makes no sense. Verizon has nothing to gain by holding it back, and everything to lose (like customers), not to mention a ton of bad publicity.
