Hi Primortal,
Verizon Wireless and Nokia are working hard to ensure that you have the best device experience. I apologize we do not have an actual release date for the next software release. You can keep checking the Nokia Lumia 928 software update page per this page will have the release info first http://vz.to/1demofd . Thanks for your patience and understanding.

For some reason T-Mobile engineers are worse as of yesterday the Nokia black unavailability site still shows all of their Lumia phones as "waiting for approval"

Well windows phone 8.1 is getting released to the developers on 4/2 and Nokia hasn't even said what its next update is going to be. Given that they have been going with colors and in alphabetical order I am going out on a limb here and saying the next update will be called Nokia Cyan. I have no idea when both will be released as final builds though.

gb755cs,
That is a great questions. Both are great devices. But some of the major differences would be the screen size. The 928 has a 4.5 inch screen as the 822 has a 4.3. The 822 you can actually remove the battery where the 928 you cannot. Also the 928 has more onboard memory it has 32GB compared to the 822 having 16GB of onboard memory. The cameras are a bit different as well, the 928 has a 8.47 megapixel resolution as for the 822 has just an 8 megapixel. You can see the two devices side by side here: http://vz.to/1dGO9ft Let us know if you have further questions.

I'm not sure, but I believe the Nokia Black update was to prepare our phones for the new Windows Phone 8.1 update. I have no way of proving this, but going by the fact that the developers were able to upgrade to Update 3 on Amber, I'm assuming they will be able to update to Windows Phone 8.1 on Black. In other words, I question if Nokia "Cyan" will even be needed. Unless, of course, you are more privy to additional information.

No I don't have any outside sources but I'm just making a pattern of what has happened. Maybe we will just get the windows 8.1 update by itself (rumored to be Windows phone 9 according to windows phone and Microsoft themed podcasts and YouTube channels) but who knows I just meant by the cyan that Nokia would have to go in alphabetical order if they continue the current name trend for their firmware remeases. Maybe they will skip letters and the next one might be eggplant, fusia, or green

Oh no the rumors I was talking about were not about upcoming devices I know the Lumia ICON (929) is coming out on the 20th. The rumors I was referring to were about upcoming versions of windows phone software and possibly updates from Nokia.
