I'm not asking for month/day.  I'll take quarter which gives them a 3 month window to iron out the issues.  What's the problem with updating the schedule if there is a delay?

Because every time I have seen them give an even approximate date and, for whatever reason it was missed, the community goes up in arms, with threats of lawsuits and customers claiming to leave in droves.  It's a lose/lose situation for them, so they seem to have erred to the side of caution.

Also, I just noticed in the Nokia Discussions Forum where a Nokia employee posted that the GDR2 (Amber) firmware update that Nokia released is a prerequisite that Nokia Here Drive+ needs in order to correct some GPS navigation issues. So the list for Amber grows.

I strongly agree (as frustrated customer who recently left another provider that willfully chose to not communicate very well) that providers should and could communicate much better.  If Verizon has an aversion to publishing time based estimations they could just as easily publish "milestone status" updates in these forums where its pertinent .  Something to the effect of: 1. Verizon Product Test (or whatever Verizon calls the dept required to sign off on the final release) is in receipt of firmware download version XXX.XX .  2. Verizon Product Test initiated internal testing of firmware.  3. Verizon Product Test awaiting 2nd revision of firmware or whatever the case may be . 4. Verizon Product Test in final phase of signoff approval. 5. Firmware release imminent.  Verizon could assign a generic status code of some sort...couldn't they?  Nothing proprietary in doing that.

Verizon should really reconsider their black out position and at least communicate something to its paying customers.  It is a mistake in this day and age of speed-of-light communications to sit back and communicate nothing.  Why keep progress a secret? Verizon is making progress towards release of this update, right?

As much as I love my 928, I've filed a complaint with the BBB to let me return it for the full refund so I can use that money to buy a different phone from Verizon. I don't want to do this, but I asked about the group messaging fix that will be implemented in the GDR2 Update when I bought the phone and was promised by the manager of my local store it was coming Q2. While he's not involved with that aspect of it, I bought the phone because a verizon employee promised me it would happen. Also, Verizon disabled group text in February....It really takes over 7 months to fix this? This shouldn't have been an addition to the GDR2 update. This should have been fixed and pushed to Windows OS users AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Either way, we'll see what happens but if you're fed up and have no other options, going to the BBB is our only resort. This comment isn't breaking my user agreement either so it better not be edited. It's just upsetting that Windows Phone 8 is honestly the best OS on the market and Verizon is dragging their feet and the only reason is that it's a low priority in relation to how many people have the OS and how much money the company makes compared to iOS and Android. If this was an issue with the iPhone, 100% sure this would be fixed within a week. 100%

Did we start getting GDR2 last night? I could swear my phone looks just a bit different. It seemed to freeze and then restart when I was driving to Starbucks last night. I pulled it out to check messages and found it in a locked up state. My lock screen was displayed but no text on it, no icons in the menu bar up top, just the picture. Then it restarted and I could swear the text on the lock screen showing time, date, and next calendar entry was bigger. The menu for deleting emails is now dark-themed instead of white-themed like before.

I'm showing OS version: 8.0.10211.204

Firmware revision number: 1532.5957.1318.3021

I don't know what it was before last night's restart so I have no comparison for change.

Looks like Nokia has done their part. Just waiting no VZW now.

So VZW, what is the date?

It is being reported elsewhere on the web that VZW is pushing out the update  for the 928 today.
