Boe,

100 percent YES!!!  I have been obsessing about getting my hands on a Trophy but verizon refuses to let me upgrade early so  I have to wait til the end of August. While that might not seem like that long, knowing the Trophy is going to be over a year old at that time(not verizons) and that the hardware is already a bit dated (no offense to anyone who owns one, I currently have a KIN-feel free to laugh lol- and the only reason I got it was because it was a "windows phone") I just cant imagine being stuck into a two year contract when post-mango phones are released near the end of the year, regardless of the carrier.

I have been a huge fan of verizon for a long time but their reluctance to bend to my request of an early upgrade(on a dated phone to boot) and my love for Microsoft products in general has made my decision of possibly going to AT&T or another carrier that much easier come December. (when my contract is truly up) I want choice and it seems like Verizon doesnt really care about that, unless you have "droid" somewhere in the terminology lol.  I know that the trophy will be upgradable to Mango when its released but thats not good enough when you have to deal with such a long contract.

Also,  feautres such as  front facing camera,   super amolded screens or SLCD at 4" or larger, greater processor power, Microsofts aquisition of Skype,  and MANGO out of the box is just too intriging to pass up. While having to deal with my "mini" windows phone until then isnt the best, its still better than trading an old phone for a slightly newer old phone lol. Buying a brand spanking new phone when its released and having it for two years is insurance that most likely, the same time frame, you will get the latest and greatest again when its due.

Sounds like you want to wait for the second generation of Windows Phone phones that should be out later in the year (with Mango and improved hardware). Given that that's the case, it's hard to see why the whole thing of getting Verizon to bend the rules and allow for an early upgrade is much of an issue, since none of those type of phones are out yet anyway and you'd be stuck with an "older" one for a while (when newer ones would be out in some months) if you got one now.

And with Verizon's history, this means waiting 18 months for their next Windows phone... :smileysad:

I would upgrade my phone TODAY if they had a WP7 device with better hardware than the Trophy

I am not asking to to much craziness I think

1.5GHz processor (or a dual 1Ghz)

1GB or RAM

16GB memory (or more) built in

4.3 inch screen

8MP camera with LED flash

Minimum 1500 mAH batter or more out of the box

And about the same thickness as my current HTC Droid Incrediable

If they had that...I would be SOLD!

Well actually, thats not the case. While the newer versions might be "better", Im perfectly fine with a phone thats upgradable like the Trophy. But it would only be worth it if I got the phone NOW, as in right when it came out, and also, at the price Microsoft is selling it for.

See, microsoft store has the Trophy for 1 penny with 50 dollars of xbox money and a free game, with zero activation and free overnight shipping!! Now THAT is a deal thats worth getting NOW< even though it is a bit outdated. But Verizon refuses to allow me to upgrade early, especilaly by a third party. ( Which they can easily do btw with updating your upgrade date in the system, but they refuse to admit that)  The phone came out in May, which is when I started pursuing the early upgrade. But since Verizon is making me wait almost 4 months to get the Trophy, why not just wait two - three more months and get a brand spanking NEW handset with Mango installed? See thats my logic, I would have taken what was NEW when it was new and been a very happy camper, but if I have to sign another 2 year deal, in which I know NOW for a fact they wont ever early upgrade me, why stick with an older phone?

Also, the best windows phones might NEVER come to verizon, seeing how they really dont care much for WP7 anyways, so perhaps its out of spite, or perhaps Im just a spoiled boy not getting his way, but in the end, you bend over backwards to retain me as a customer, Ill be loyal forever. You snub me like you do and make me wait when Ive already read success stories about how other people have been able to upgrade over 6 months early, you basically are showing me you dont really care about MY business. ANd that is unacceptable.

You know whats funny, I was casually at the mall looking at phones and a rep at the kiosk asked me what i was looking for. I said the WP7 and of course, I had to hear the "ugh, why do you want that? sucks, blah, blah" and then he pointed me to the samsung fascinate and said this was the phone to get. I told him it didnt matter becasue my upgrade wasnt for another few months and that Id probably just wait for a better handset. Know what his reply was?  "well if it was for the fascinate, I bet I could make it happen for you now".  Interesting huh.

Exactly - I'd even buy today if had those things and didn't have the faster processor.

After Mango I'll EXPECT (not just want) the following:

4.3." screen

SLIM design like the EVO 3D or Samsung Galaxy S II

16 GB or 8GB on board and microSD expandable

1.2 GHz or faster / dual core

1500-2000mah battery - EVO 3D has 1700+mah and SGII has 1600+mah battery.

4G connectivity I can turn on and off.

BT 3.0 - I'd prefer BT 4.0 but I can live with BT 3.0.

I don't care about the camera resolution but I don't want something that sticks out like the EVO 3D does and I do want flash.

You have to realize that very, very few people ever push the hardware capabilities of the computers they buy whether they be desktop, tablet, mobile, or whatever. It's like the people that have to own quad-core desktop PC's to surf the Internet, write Word documents and play the occasional video game. Most consumers just fall prey to the marketing hype.

Take a step back and evaluate things a bit. First of all, if the Trophy has any performance bottleneck at all it's with the network so if you wanted to argue that you'd like a 4G Windows Phone for improved performance, I'd buy that. Having said that I guarantee you that the Trophy is as fast as or faster than any 3G phone currently on the market and that's almost entirely thanks to the more than snappy Windows Phone OS. What do you think you'd gain by moving to a 1.5 GHz processor exactly? I find that my Trophy loads apps nearly as fast as my slightly more than 1 year old desktop computer does.

As far as RAM goes remember that currently the WP OS doesn't support 3rd party app multitasking so it's not that easy to stress the memory on any Windows Phone. But even when it does, what applications will you run constantly that need that much RAM? Do you plan to run photoshop on your phone? How many apps do you truly need to multitask with? Do you plan to run more than 5 or 6 apps at a time?

With regards to screen size I've already commented about that in another thread so no need to rehash here.
