If the radio, Ril and kernel are touched in a way that would affect signal it will also have to go through the FCC for recertification.

Oh I forgot. It will also have to go through Qualcomm since it's part of the licensing agreement for CDMA. You need Qualcomm to sign off on it.

I am in the same boat as you.. waiting on Windows 10 phones. I am not buying another phone from Verizon if it is not a Windows phone. I am a 10+ year customer about to leave. I have several lines and the last contract ends this month.

As I mentioned in another thread, we finally left VZW and are much happier!  Better devices, better coverage (in my area,) more services and cheaper bill!  And when I went into the store and asked for the Windows Phone, they didn't balk, they didn't badmouth me, they didn't try to get me to get an  - they just went into the back and grabbed the phones and SIMs and set up the account.  (The only problem I had was that they were selling the Windows Phones so fast, that they couldn't keep them in stock. I called ahead and asked them to hold a couple out for me and I'd stop by the next day, but when I got there, they were totally sold out and I had to go to another store.)

Who did you go to? Coincidently I get horrible service at my house. I wonder if another carrier will let me cancel service if I switch and also have horrible service at home. I don't live in the middle of no-where either.

Did you get 950 or 950XL

I urge everybody to take a deep breath and think about their coverage before getting all spun up about not having the mediocre Lumia 950. Wait for the Surface Phone, slated to be available on ALL carriers.

I've had all four tier-one carriers, and at least in northern New Jersey there is no comparison. Verizon is unrivaled in terms of data speed or network coverage. It's not even close. Sprint is a joke if you're not in a major urban area. Stray outside a major city and your Sprint phone becomes a paperweight. T-Mobile is not much better. There is simply no network coverage in even SEMI rural areas. AT&T has about 70% of the coverage of Verizon, and speeds are considerably lower than Verizon. And those deals on monthly bills offered by "the other guys" are a joke. What good is paying half of what you do on Verizon when you get only 5% of the service? No thanks - I'm sticking with Big Red.

Should just let them go. It's the only way to keep the market going. If they think it's better they should go. $$ talks.
