If a user is happy with the service they have and don't want to try other carriers that has had reports of just as much issues, how is it settling for less.  I have tried every carrier and for me Verizon is the only company that works in all the areas that I am in...  If I cant get service where I go the carrier is useless to me.

Also the ideal that all carriers are the same would be a nice truth but far from it, each carrier has its plus and minuses and it up to the user to decide what works for them because the carriers and devices are far from being the same..

You miss one of the points. I want Windows for better synchronization not Android or Apple. I personally think it’s time Verizon starts thinking about their customers and training their salespeople in what they’re selling. Thanks to yesterday’s posting I got a reply advising me that the Trophy will in fact do what I need it to do even though the user guide says it won’t and sales reps tell me it won’t. I’ll stay with VZW even though my contract is long expired and I could easily walk away – not necessarily to AT&T as there are other servers offering WP7 phone. I’ll try the Trophy. If it doesn’t deliver it will be returned.

The trophy is a good pone, I've been using it for a while now. Nice size, great screen, good battery life and runs WP7. But it's not LTE so the data is slowish, but it's not bad at all. But it's not the lumia 900

Now that it appears that VZW has no plans for decent Windows Phones, I'm going to actively look at my options with other networks.  (And I've been with VZW since 1998 when it was Bell Atlantic Mobile....)

I have already started saving up money starting with my paychecks this month to pay my ETF fee, and transfer to ATT come mid-March when the 900 is out.  I only have one ETF fee to pay anyway, my contract is up now, and just have to cover the ETF fee for the rest of my wifes contract thats left.  ATT has good coverage in my area, so it's not a problem.  I'll lose my unlimited data, but I don't go over 2GB now, and Android is very "data hungry."  I doubt I will use as much data as I do now once I switch to a WP7 phone.  I am currently using between 1.2-1.4 GB a month.  I could also be better about remembering to turn on Wi-Fi at work to keep data use down, but sometimes I just forget.  Gotta make that a habit.

My situation was the opposite. I was with AT&T for 15 years, but finally gave up and went to Verizon because of the coverage and 4G network. I couldn't make a call from my home and had to drive to the end of the block to get service and I was in the middle of the coverage area.  4G didn't exist, and I was unable to tether my laptop to their 3G hotspot at work because the coverage was so poor. I also liked Verizon's phones better, but that changes frequently. I don't care about a Windows phone, but I'm sure Verizon will have some nice ones soon. Right now the only phone AT&T has that interests me is the Note, but I figure by the time my contract expires, Verizon will have something I like better, or tablet prices will drop and I can get both a quad core phone and tablet for a reasonable price.

I know there are differences in the companies, but not enough to make any difference to me. I'm paying about $10.00 a month more now, but it's worth it to me to have a good 4G network and be able to tether my laptop to a hotspot that works. I did like AT&T's talk time plans better. Right now we are stuck with 700 minutes of talk time. Myself, my wife and son together probably won't use 700 minutes over the life of the plan, let alone monthly, so I'd like to see those packages change and I've hear rumors that they might. I've seen little to no difference in their customer support. I'm sure that will depend on whether you've had a good, or bad experience. Bad customer support experiences happen at both companies. Both companies have people answering their phones who don't know what they're doing. Call 10 times and you'll get at least 5 different responses. Right after I switched, I went to AT&T to settle my account and the store manager had to call phone support. After 45 minutes and two transfers, the store manager was so angry she was yelling at the phone support rep because the rep wouldn't give her a case #, or transfer her to a supervisor. These things don't just happen to us.

To me, the best reason to switch is simply coverage. If AT&T gives you equal, or better coverage in your area and you like the phones better, then switch, but it won't matter how much you like the phone if the coverage sucks. Another nice thing with AT&T was that I had a month to decide and not 14 days, so you'll have time to compare.

Everyone's needs are different and in the end, it doesn't matter what any one else thinks. Do what works best for you and let us know how it works out for you.

My situation is very close to yours when dealing with AT&T also, that just proves how some phones and carriers are not for everyone, it always depends on your situation....

I switched to T-mobile and got the Radar HTC which I loved. I think its free now I paid 50 per phone with a new contract. T-mobile's service was terrible around my house so they got returnedSmiley Sad. Now Im back to my old basic phone with Verizon again and considering the Trophy. ATT doens't have good service here at my house either so I cant go there. Sprint is a possiblity but I do appreciate the Verizon network.  On Verizon I have one choice if I want the windows phone - The Trophy and its basically the same phone as the HTC Radar but not as sleek and cool. I really want verizon to start promoting Windows phone and have some better options, I think for windows users its a superior experience to android. VERIZON bring on the WINDOWS phones PEOPLE will BUY. MANGO is EASY to use and a good experience for average users like myself.

jason....you don't need it now since you have unlimited, but there are apps that will automatically turn on your memorized wifi networks when you are in range. i would think that windows has similar apps (android has a few). you set up the app so that, for example, when you get to the office, it knows you are there (gps) and turns on wifi. when you leave, it disables it, and then when you get home it turns on wifi again for your home network. with an app like that, you don't have to worry about the 2 gigs of data unless you really used it a lot when you were out and about. just a tip if you switch to a limited data plan.

That is the default behavior for windows phone. My only real data usage is from the maps app when driving. Also, if you try to download an app that is pretty large (such as Plants vs. Zombies) it won't let you do it without being on wifi. It's fairly polite that way.
