No different but on a smaller scale

Buy one donut 59c, two $1.10, three,$1.53

The more ya buy upfront, the less per item, or in this case per GB costs

also, 3 phones could theorhetically share that one gig for $50. previously, 3 smartphones would have had to pay a minimum or $90 ($30 per line) per month just to activate them and access data. the new plans don't work well for many users, but they work well for many others.

Just think if all the money you're saving if you buy the 20GB.

I didn't see it mentioned before, so I will do so now. Based on the new pricing structure, it seems that they are presenting it as no limitation on calling and texting with shared data being thrown into the mix. I am assuming that the calling and texting side is meant to make it a bit more enticing. To be fair, I have heard people in various comments across teh interwebs saying that they have saved anywhere from $10 to $100+ per month to share everything. Nevertheless, with my 20-40GB of usage per month on my line alone, I will not be switching anytime soon.

Well, man, we are the reason why people lost their unlimited data. What does that make us, the top .5% to 1%?

Why on earth? Because Verizon (and soon AT&T as well) are very good at capitalizing on peoples' ignorance. That's NOT to say people are STUPID, but they don't have a feel for exactly what they are buying with these data caps. I can't count how many times I have walked into a VZ store, heard a rep tell someone $30 for 2 Gig or whatever, and the customer just looks starry-eyed back at him and asks: "But how much IS that though?" This is a serious vulnerability to price gouging in this digital age of 5-10 Gig DVDs and 1 Terabyte hard drives. Not to mention video streaming at 1.25 Gig per 2 hour movie.

Bulk discounts are one thing (that's how economy of scale works) but inconsistent data pricing that's all over the map is quite another thing altogether. $50 for 1 Gig..$30 for 2 Gig...$60 for 2 Gig...$30 for 4 Gig..$50 for 4 Gig....$70 for 4 Gig...$40 for 300 Meg (!!!!). Yes, ALL of these prices currently exist as part of Verizon's pricing models on one plan or another.

Verizon's CFO has himself said to his own investors, that these sharing plans were intended to be "profit-generating engines." Indeed they certainly are. But not at MY expense, thank you very much.

Sounds like you're informed dimap52.  Yes, one price for GB's of data for tiered data plans, and another pricing structure for family shared data plans.  That's why it pays to be an informed consumer when purchasing todays technology.

You can't go through life today expecting the government or someone else to "hold your hand" and protect you from yourself.  Like the guy having his house forclosed on saying, "My wife and I bring home $3,800/mo and our mortgage payment is $3,000/mo, and they told me I could afford it!"   Really??? and you beleived that?

Just saying, in the long run it pays to educate yourself, cuz in the end, it's your money.

Good luck to all of us,
