i placed an order online tuesday for new service requesting a port of my number from sprint. I received my phone on thursday activated and everything even went to the store to complete the port. as now the port from sprint is not complete. How long does it take to complete a port of a number?

No more than a few hours unless possibly you are in default with Sprint and they won't release the number until your account is current. I made the same switch about 5 years ago and it seems like the new phone was working before I left the store.

To verify, have you turned off the Sprint phone and removed the SIM card from it?
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

@PAUHIC98
Welcome to the Verizon Wireless family! However, I want to ensure your ported number is working as expected.
As @DAVSON44 explained, it usually only takes a few hours to port over another wireless number. I understand it’s been over 48 hours since you posted this concern. Are you still experiencing problems with your number porting over? If so, please share exactly what you’re experiencing so that I can further assist.

I HAVE GONE ON TO VZW.COM/PORT AND PUT IN MY NUMBER AND GET THIS MSG;

Have you contacted Sprint by phone and asked what the hold up is? It doesn't sound like Verizon is the issue here. Understand you aren't in default but if your still in contract maybe they want the ETF fee paid before releasing the number? I'm just speculating because they seem to be holding the number hostage for some reason. I've always had the same cell number and at one point or another it has been with Sprint, AT&T and Verizon and I've never had an issue when switching.
