new every 2 and adding another line

I am currently eligible for a new every 2 phone and I need to add a line to my account (via family plan).

The phone I am considering for the upgrade would cost me nothing and would not use my $50 credit.

Would I be able to use my $50 credit towards a phone for the line I am adding? And would I be able

to do all of this online or do I need to go into a Verizon store to do it?

I talked to Verizon and learned that the new every two credit can be used toward another phone when adding a line. However, the transaction needs to be done at a store. I was also told that you can use an older Verizon compatible phone for the new line if you choose to.

A good question.   Normally that credit is designed for the hardware.   You can certainly ask them and I encourage you to do so.   Please post back and let us know what the outcome was as we'd all like to know the answer to that one!
