I have emailed customer service three times regarding international service issues. Basically paid for data/voice and nothing is working abroad. No one has gotten back to me. I have a samsung galaxy nexus. anyone have any ideas as to what's up here? I got on chat by pretending I needed new service and obviously could not help me. They couldn't even direct me to someone who could. Pathetic. It'd be great to get a response.

Is there a "Global" setting on the phone under preferred networks? This would have to be set to allow the phone to work abroad.

There is no global setting on the Nexus from what I have seen.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

You are correct, I looked around at some different manuals, and I saw a reference to Global mode in 1 set of documentation, but not in the user manual from Verizon.

Good afternoon and thank you to the community for assisting with this issue!
seesaw79, I would be extremely overwhelmed, to say the least, if I couldn't use my device while traveling! Let's see what we can do here. Did you call in for Global assistance before traveling to France? I understand you're using the Samsung Galaxy, which is a 4G device; however, it isn't a Global capable device, (GSM), which is what you need to have coverage in France. If it was Global capable, we would have to activate the Global SIM card and program the device before leaving the U.S. We have devices you can rent while traveling abroad. Are you still in France? Did we add an International plan on your account? Here are some specific details about coverage/ options while in France: http://bit.ly/RBKap2
I trust this information is helpful.
Thank you,
