A bill was passed in April, enabling Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), also known as the Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) or the Personalized Local Alerting Network (PLAN), on all phones that will support it. Almost all providers, including all of the major ones, are partcipating in distributing these alerts.
