I just got off the phone with customer service and I'm seriously hoping they were wrong about the upcoming changes. I currently have a family plan with 4 smartphones, and have determined that the new plans will increase my bill by about $50 a month, for less data. I am not interested in the new plans at all, and feel they are a huge insult to all but a small portion of the customer base (but I digress, that's not my question).
Anyway, after trying to convince me that I'd be getting a better deal by increasing my monthly bill by $50 (seriously) they told me that ANY upgrade performed after 6/28 would force my entire account (all 4 lines) onto the new plan. This is not a question of unlimited data vs capped data. My question is: will we be able to upgrade lines and at least keep the 2GB $30 plan in the future? If anyone can provide any details on this question I would greatly appreciate it.

Whoever you talked to has no clue what they're talking about. The line based tiered data packages aren't going anywhere (at least for the time being.)

I had called Verizon support 3 or 4 times, and I got the same answer. If you do a subsidized upgrade on or after June 28th, if you had an unlimited data plan, you will have the option to do the 2GB for $30 individual plan, or the whole Family Share plan "CAN" be changed to the "Family Share Everything" plan. It is strictly an option though.

I have an unlimited data plan on my account. Do I need to change it?
You're not required to move to Share Everything but if you do, unlimited data will not be retained on your line. As a Verizon Wireless customer you have choices when you upgrade at discounted pricing. You can choose from a standalone data package starting at $30 for 2GB or a Share Everything Plan. If keeping unlimited is important to you, you can choose to upgrade and pay full retail price for the phone.

Thank you everyone for the help! I feel a little better now (although not as good as I would feel if Verizon decided not to kill unlimited data...). Appreciate it.
