Will Family Locator work with data and other non-call service turned off?

I have purchased Family Locator, and installed the app on my daughter's phone.  Right now, the best the service can do is locate the phone within 3.5 MILES!  This is absurd.

I've had the problem of accidentally hitting a button and my phone going on to the Internet and incurring charges, and Verizon makes this so easy you can do it and not even know.  Because of that, I have all the data services turned off on her phone.  Are the data services necessary for the locator to be able to  be used with any degree of accuracy?  -Bill

Hello Lakeman1,

Once family locator has been downloaded to the device, it will not incur data charges on the bill unless the app receives and update. The answer to your question is no. The data services are not necessary for the locator to be used. Another alternative to the blocks is to change your shortcut keys so they won't access any data sensitive functions on the device.
